The 70's Fro was awesome!

Coldplay is not rock.
I don't think Mumford & Sons is rock either. Man what happened to groups like Thin Lizzy, Zep, etc. Yes I am old. |
I guess cupcakes are something that doesn't kill you and makes you stronger. What a tank ass.

Jesus. The ****ers in this thread are like a bunch of people sitting around in a game thread on Sunday talking about how much better hockey is than football. Hey dumbasses. It's the Grammy's, not "let's relive the music of our high school prom."

Oh, the ACM Awards.... Sweeeeeet!

The problem I have with the Grammys is that at first they were reserved for musicians. I used to belong to the NARAS (National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences) and attended SXSW but quit. It's all politics now and preprogrammed bullshit. There is a huge difference between "musicians" and "performers" Timberlake, Beyonce, Spears, Rhiannon, etc. = performers Beatles, Stones, Byrds, Fleetwood Mac, Nirvana, etc. = musicians |
Bout time...

This is AWESOME!!! Love it!!

What you see on the Grammys for the most part is the shit they are selling. Key word - SELLING. It's not about good music, it's about record sales. |
Black Keys suck.

It just funny to watch people sit on their asses with their worn out 80s hair bands talking shit on today's music like they have any inkling of an idea how much interesting and diverse music is out there today. |

Someone told me Zepplin and Rush had never won a Grammy? That's incredible.

It all started with MTV. Remember when MTV played MUSIC? Now they play bullshit because it makes more money than music. Same scenario as what you are witnessing tonight. |

Big deal that I think the Black Keys suck. I don't like any modern rock at all. I think it all blows. But the beauty about music is it doesn't really ****ing matter what any of us think. We all have different tastes in music.
|
Ok, I have heard like 2 Kerry Udnerwood songs and besides the fact she is cute, what is her claim to fame?

But the musical landscape is totally different...genres are broken down it is easier to make music people can go to the far corners of wherever to find exactly what they like. If you are annoyed because not all the good music is popular...well who gives a ****? There is good music everywhere why do you need someone else to validate it? The shifting music landscape does not mean there is not good music. It is actually the opposite. |

I don't think you even have to look as hard as you used to... say even 10 years ago. It just seems like there are more popular acts like the Mumfords/Black Keys/Lumineers, etc. who get radio airplay, popularity, etc.
That's really just the tip of the iceberg. If you really wanted to go back in time there's Michael Kiwanuka, Fitz & the Tantrums, etc... acts that truly sound like they came from decades ago. And they've still achieved some sliver of popularity. |

How often do you hear the same tired music on a classic rock radio station? I love Lynyrd Skynyrd but there is so much out there that never makes it on the air. How bout some Black Oak Arkansas or more CCR. Back when I was in TV and radio we picked our own music and played what we wanted. If we had to take a shit we played Ina Goda Davida for 17 minutes. Now the Program Directors pick the music and it's the same for their whole network of stations. You will hear the same classic rock music in Kansas City that you will hear in Houston if it's the same broadcast group with little to no variation. They push what they want you to buy. |

Clarkson meh. Carrie has talent and I'm sure she was playing out before the Idol gig. But the Idol gig is what got her a record deal. |
This ensemble included a popular artist that plays a lot on top 40 stations therefore it sucked.

Smoked many a spliff listening to Bob Marley records.

Some of us have busy lives and can't spend countless hours looking for good/new music. The only reason I'm even watching this is my Wife took our son out if town for a visit with the Granparents. |
