Check out Gaslight Anthem. They're a great new band and they reference counting crows in a couple of their songs.

I love Mumford & Sons. Just for the record.

I agree with you here.

But the point's been raised a few times this thread... the people who complain about there not being any good music and that all modern music blows haven't looked hard enough. In the indie music genre, there is a ton of variety. It's one thing to not have the time to look for a band you like, it's another to shit on an entire generation of music without trying to find something you like.

houstonwhodat 02-10-2013 09:21 PM

Sometimes there are occasions when they are both musicians and performers both.

i.e. Mick Jagger, KISS, even DEVO.

And of late No Doubt with Gwen Stefani.

Goddamn that woman if ****ing fine. I would eat that up.

I don't know them I admit.

I've seen The Crows live twice. The last time they played their never released song "August and Everything After". It sure was dusty in the arena that night. I love that band.

I put them in that place of groups I really like but mind get sick of because they seem to be everywhere. Even great music can get overplayed and turn kind of sour.

Not ALL the new music is shit.

Just seem like they stuff they are pushing the most is empty and hollow but it sells so it gets all the attention.

People are sheeple and once a band becomes popular people keep following it because they think it makes them cool.

Many can't think for themselves and break away from the herd.

Mumford got nominated for best "rock" song.

They seem like some kinda country/bluegrass hybrid.

Coldplay is not rock and they got nominated too.

Who?

Hey was that Lindsay Lohan with a prison teardrop on her face?

petegz28 02-10-2013 09:30 PM

I'm not a big fan of much of his music but Prince will arguably be the most talented "musician\performer\writer" to walk onto the stage tonight.

TribalElder 02-10-2013 09:30 PM

Katie Perry's fun bags will still be around tho!

Not a fan of his solo stuff but liked the Police.

I'll catch shit for this but Coldplay rocks live. They're known for some mellow stuff, but they can kick ass when they want to.

Dude, I remember when Ozzy was rejected soundly by "the majority" and he was tearing shit up. Now that Crazy Train is a family sing-along for car comemrcials and what not, I can't stand Ozzy anymore and haven't liked him for quite some time but "the majority" loves him now

I like Ozzy when he was with Black Sabbath or when he went solo and was still a crazy ass drug crazed drunken buffoon.

I used to play drums for a band in Houston in early 90's.

We played with some big acts and in front of 300,000 people on July 4th.

Never bothered me.

But never been on TV.

That might bother me.
