G.O.A.T.: pick your greatest athlete of all time

With Tiger’s Masters win today, Twatter is asking if he’s the greatest athlete ever. This poll asks: name you greatest athlete you’ve seen. (So Jim Brown, Babe Ruth, Jesse Owens etc all off the table)

Use whatever criteria you wish. Can only pick one.

Clearly this is about dominance in their own sport and not actual athletic ability. So if that's the case, it has to be Roger Federer, right?

Seen: Bo Jackson
Ever: Jim Thorpe

I think gold medals in swimming are massively overrated. If they had 100-meter races where you ran one and then hopped one and then ran one hopping one leg and then ran one backwards, Usain Bolt would have more than 23. Swimming should be only about getting from Point A to Point B the fastest.

Most dominate I've seen in a sport? Tough call. I think Phelps is up there. Definitely Usain Bolt is up there. Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretzky, Lionel Messi, Wilt Chamberlain, Floyd Mayweather, Steffi Graf, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Bonnie Blair, Jack Nicklaus the list goes on.

Of them all though, I'd have to say Bo Jackson. Speed, power, hand-eye coordination, etc were all just outstanding. Was great, not just good, in 2 professional sports and likely could have done about anything he wanted.

Bo knows...

Walter Ray Williams. Professional bowler. 47 PBA titles.

I will go ahead and say Bo Jackson and it isn’t even close. Dude was a monster

WhiteWhale 04-14-2019 07:53 PM

In terms of skill at their craft, success in their craft, or overall athletic ability?

We're all too young to really think about it, but let's not forget just how much shit Jesse Owens accomplished as an athlete.

Read the original post. It says the criteria.

Everybody hates lebron James but in terms of raw athletic ability he was (in his prime) basically a 6-9 bo jackson.
