My favorite cheap trigger trick. Is the Mini 14 staple trick. It works like a charm.

My only concern is that I couldn't mount a gangster grip exactly where I wanted to (it would be pretty far forward with the 1/2 rail). Otherwise it's pretty much perfect. |
Bought a Ruger SR1911 this week. Can't wait to shoot it. Anyone out there have one of these? They just came out this month.

Cool does not equal functional. I'm not going to be going on any commando raids any time soon, and since I have common-wall neighbors on either side of my condo, a rifle that could kill somebody two units away is not the gun I'll go for as a home defender (unless it's zombie apocalyse time and I don't give a shit about errant rounds). I shoot this gun at the range, and at the range all the cool gizmos just get in the way. But buying this stuff and farting around with it is a fun part of the process, so knock yourself out. I certainly don't want to discourage you from doing that. |
I felt like it was much easier to shoot my gun with the vertical grip. Of course I haven't shot it at the range yet, I was just destroying bricks, an old computer and an old DVD player with it from about 40 yards out on my friend's property. Disintegrated a couple of xbox games too - that was fun. I can see how a vertical grip could be useless when shooting from prone or behind a bench at the range, though.
If you really want a grip, DJ, I would get the grip pod which turns into a bipod with a press of button. The bipod isn't going to be as good as the real deal, but it's a sweet compromise if you ask me. |
I might try one of the Magpul angled grips. There's a gun store in the area that specializes in ARs - I'm sure they'll have one mounted on something so I can get the feel of it before buy it.

Yeah, it's silly, but for $10 I had to have it. Zombie Killer ejection door. :D

Yay me! I've got my order in for a Gen 4 Glock model 19. After years of poking spendy .45 holes in stuff, maybe I can afford to actually shoot this little sombeech.
When you quit smoking, you get to whiz away your cigareet money on guns, whiskey, & women who can 'suck the chrome off a bumper hitch' as Willie Nelson says. I'm just sayin'... |
