I wouldn't mind him too much although I still prefer that we go with a young college coach or a coordinator who have never been HCs before.

Lex Luthor 01-02-2013 08:54 AM

Please, Clark, make him an offer so good that he accepts it on the spot.

Then fire Pioi tomorrow.

That's how he will make an impression and always be remembered, at least according to the commercial.

Reid is no dummy. Stop and take a look at 'serious offers' before he goes to visit with the job he really wants. Drive up his price and maybe his conditions.

Hoping for the best as I like Reid but I think of him as a fairer skinned Romeo. Not sure we need that in KC right now. Something between players coach and Todd Haley would be most welcomed. A coach with NFL experience is also a must.

I don't want a newbie coach that has no NFL head coach experience this time around... I want a proven winner that has been through the crap before but still hasn't won that title yet. We can't afford to have someone learning on the job this time around. I'm all for Andy Reid!

Saying Reid and Crennel in the same breath may be the most stupidest thing that will be said on this board today!!!!

This might be legit, but with Clark it is surprisin that it got leaked. My guess is that Bob Lamonte might be leaking the news to get Arizona serious and start a bidding war...

In other words, the Chiefs talked to him and decided he was such a REACH as a HC that Koetter took enough away to think he had NO SHOT of being a HC ANYWHERE.

Good job Clark.

All I can think of when I think of Reid is his doofy face every time he mismanages the clock at the end of a game.

I get that he's been around the block, and he had 11 winning seasons in 14, and made the NFC championship game every year, but something about him rubs me the wrong way.

I guess I'd still take him, especially if it means Pioli is fired as a result.

Hammock Parties 01-02-2013 09:06 AM

Andy Reid - 39th all time in winning percentage, 23rd all time in total wins!

Romeo Crennel - 142nd in total wins, 148th in wins (out of 159 coaches).

IDENTICAL!!!!

According to Mortenson, Pioli WAS in Atlanta yesterday participating in the interview with Koetter. Does not have any confirmation that Pioli is part of the Reid interview, though.

He is suggesting that Pioli was part of the Koetter interview because he would have been a 1st-time head coach and that relationship would have required more input from Pioli. If it's Andy Reid, Pioli will likely be gone.

Yes, but in order to mismanage the clock you must first be in the game at the end.

Stand Up Andy didn't stalk the sideline or throw his cap. He never much screamed. He never ripped off his headphones. He was always a stoic bear of a man, hiding behind an enormous mustache. Philadelphia never appeared to appreciate that. It seemed to long for a man who showed passion. You almost get the sense the fans would have loved Mike Ditka or Jerry Glanville or some other recycled side show from a long lost time rather than endure another Reid news conference that failed to deliver one sound bite upon which to munch.

The product on the field matters more. I could care less whether a HC is a madman like Haley or a softie like Romeo, or somewhere in between as long as the team wins.

Just a guess here, but the Koetter interview was probably setup a LONG time ago.

It may have very well been a "we scheduled this and we're going to honor it, even though you have no shot at the job, Dirk" kind of thing.

That notion is bolstered by the fact that Koetter interviewed and then IMMEDIATELY signed a contract extension to remain a coordinator. If he though he had ANY shot at KC or any other HC job, he wouldn't have done that.

WRONG!

Actually, he's on the list of coaches I'd like to see here given the list of those available and interested. I'm just not sure he's the right fit. But then the coaches I think would be a better fit won't or don't want to come to KC.

What happened to the Ferentz thing? Wasnt he supposed to interview with KC today?

mr. tegu 01-02-2013 09:16 AM

I was never excited about the Cowher or Gruden options (if they ever were options) but if we don't go with a someone who is up and coming I like the Reid option. They consistently won yet never won the super bowl which is good for the whole "coach has never won it in two places" thing.

Predarat 01-02-2013 09:16 AM

Reid would be wise to take a sabbatical similar to what Jeff Fisher did, it seems to have worked for him.

Clark strikes me as the kind of guy who honors his obligations. If the interview was already setup, the right thing to do is to interview him.

Mortenson just said this too.

He flatly said KC is a better job than Arizona, especially because of the fans and atmosphere.

On a side note, Mortenson just made some commentary about this news cycle and how crazy it is. He went out of his way to mention that he (and others in his position) have to be careful about the motives of their sources because they get USED all the time to advance an agenda rather than the actual news.

OnTheWarpath15 01-02-2013 09:22 AM

All reports indicate Tom Heckert won't be following AR this time around.

Andy Reid's success in Philly was directly tied to McNabb.

When McNabb played well, they won. Pretty much.
