NFT: Help with a CD

I have two CDs that have a ton of pics on them. For some reason, my ROM drives won't recognize them even being in the drive. They are pretty beat up, scratched, etc. Any chance of retrieving these pics?

edit. I'm saving that for another day.

I think there is some "stuff" you can put on a cd to retrieve from scratches...but I don't know what it is.

You can try some CD repair kits they sell them at walmart, haven't tried one myself, but it may be your best shot.

Morphius is talking about the same stuff I am......I used one to recover a disk at work last year.

I just like how many questions this BB gets that could be mostly answered with a simple google search :D

As long as the scratches are not deep enough to pierce the plastic layer you should be OK.

If its important enough you may want to take it to some place that does resurfacing. There are some internet/mail order places but you may want to try a local video game store that sells used games.

I'm too big of a jerk to suggest such a thing.....

Please refrain from persecuting Ms. Gump, Morph.

If I wasn't such a jerk, I'd also mention that most Movie rental places have refinishing machines(?) and with a little friendly conversation and flirting....could probably be done for little or nothing.

The "CD Doctor" works wonders. They sell for like 29.99..and work like a charm.

Well, I figured I could ask for a picture as payment for my services, but I figured why bother and just go for the simple and pointed insult :P

digi2fish 10-06-2004 01:51 AM

I just don't understand how a crossdressing doctor could fix a compact disc.
