No smack - just curious: Ruben's impact?

Ok, I'm not trying to throw out backhanded smack. I have my questions still about Ruben and the Denver ground attack. I really would like to hear your thoughts on Ruben going forward and the type of impact he has as the starting RB in Denver.

I am not going to twist comments and again ... no hidden agenda. I realize that everyone following the Broncos is estatic and comparing him to Davis and others. I am really just curious in your thoughts?

I'd be in the probably not/maybe camp . You can't tell anything about anybody in two starts and nothing in his career prior to those two games would make me believe he's a diamond in the rough. Not that he doesn't have a chance to continue what he's doing, but it'll take much more to show he's anything beyond a flash in the pan.

Wait and see how he does after defenses start to game plan against him.

I did hear he was pretty good at Oregon. Or was it Oregon State?

The Reuben has had much impact in the field of sandwiches.

Mile High Mania 10-19-2004 05:25 PM

I only referred to him as a "diamond in the rough" b/c he was an unknown vagabond guy to this point...

I'm actually not a big fan of the sandwhich.

actually i think Reuben Droughns has always been considered a highly athletic RB with lots of potiential... he has just failed to live up to it yet.

getting him away from the stink Detroit organization was a big plus and chance for him.

add in the cheating, stinkin Oline system in donkey land gives him a very good chance to succeed and live up to his potiential.

Ruben kicked ass at Oregon. During the 99 Sun Bowl, he cramped up and was in the locker room for a lot of the second half, but came back on the last drive and ended up leading the Ducks to a 10-yard Harrington to Howry TD with just over a minute left that gave them a 24-20 win.

almost 400 yards in two starts is no accident. Rueben is going to be good.

Is that who that is? I thought it was Barry Sanders.

HE'S THE SECOND COMING OF QUENTIN GRIFFIN!!!!

He is a very powerful back, and if does not get hurt and could dominate with your line... The problem is, he runs straight up and takes some pops...That style of running is very injury prone...

el borracho 10-19-2004 05:52 PM

Reminds me of Rudi Johnson. He looks (so far) good enough to win with but not a top fantasy back. I would be very happy if I were a b ronco fan.

I've noticed that as well ... he is not flashy, just hits the hole and breaks tackles. Denver RBs rarely averaged more than 25 carries a game ... Ruben has had 30 and 38 in the last 2 starts.

I hope (for him more than anything) that he's the real deal, he seems like a good guy. I just find it odd that it has taken this long for him to stand out... then again, he is behind the CHEATING DONX line. :)

After Nalen broke his finger, it'll be difficult for him to hold the opposition. I suppose he can still dive at the knees. Droughns is having a career year.

He'll find a way to hold... give him some credit.
