If you were going to cruise a river from start to finish...

...which river would you choose? Assume that you're being sponsored by Nike or Coca-Cola or someone on the trip, so all of your expenses are paid.

For extra credit, what kind of boat would you choose? Assume that you are not allowed any watercraft more than 20 feet long.

Poll forthcoming.

You can assume that any rapids would be handled via portage by corporate porters.

It's a tough choice, but I think I'd go with the Ganges. It would have a cool variety of views, including the Himalayas, a bunch of interesting cities, and other stuff.

The views would be cool but the millions of gallons of raw sewage and many rotting corpses along the way would definately make the trip a buzz kill.

I'd have to research the options better before I could give my definate answer.

I cruise up and down the Mississippi almost daily. In my truck, on the road next to it.

ChiefsCountry 12-06-2004 08:09 PM

Where is the Osage River at in that poll?

Decisions, decisions.

Oddly, I did a morning "cruise" on a rowboat on the Ganges River once, and a body floated by. Seriously.

I'm the lone traveler of the Rhine.

Hwang Ho

I don't know where it is, or anything about it, but it screams "cheap asian whores." I bet there would be a lot of hot, cheap, asian rowing on my 20 foot banana boat.

A close second and third would be the Orinoco to see the mighty Orinoco Crocodiles and the Zambezi to torment the purportedly man-eating Zambezi River sharks.

Most well thought out answer yet. You get an A+
