How does it work ?

Relatively simply.

Next time you do it, you'll notice that any # you think of will come up with the same result, as the icons/numbers change each time.

Um, the symbol is always the same.

Check the multiples of 9, they are always the same symbol. Of course, the symbols rearrange each time you refresh the screen by checking your "mind read".

It is how I learned my 9s tables

You will always end up with 81, 72, 63, 54, 45, 36, 27, 18, or 9. Those symbols are always the same for each of the above on every screen. Thus the "mind reader" will always equal the symbol for those numbers listed above.

Another cool thing about the multiples of nine, the first digit plus the second digit for the first 10 multiples always equals 9. I think I will peruse an algebra thread.

I never noticed the icons changed.

I knew it had to be something mathematical like that, but there were so many icons I was fooled into thinking they were random. Like I said, I didn't notice they switched each time.

I knew it had to be something simple I was overlooking. Still, I thought it was kinda neat ... althought it's neater if you don't know the secret. Now I don't want to play it anymore. :harumph:

After I looked at the symbols and tried it a few more times it wa pretty obvious.

10x+y - (x+y) = 9x

Yep, ghey.

Even gheyer is the "card trick" where they change all the cards.
