New Blog About Kansas City Downtown Redevelopment

Downtown KC is a new blog chronicaling the ongoing redevelopment of downtown. It has some good articles, photos, and history notes. I thought a lot of you folks would like this. It looks like the start of something good.

The most offensive of the buildings are One Kansas City Place and City Center Square, two of Kansas City's tallest buildings.
These two huge buildings don't have a single entrance anywhere on 12th. This is somewhat contrary to the idea of getting people out on the street to use the streetscape.
Guess I never thought of that... even though he's right that there's nothing to look at, I don't think a set of doors is going to make it look so much better that people pedestrians would start using that portion of 12th Street (and the buildings certainly don't say "screw off" ROFL ). They could put a mural on the side of City Centre Square, but the real problem with that section of 12th Street is that there's no place to go, hence the whole KC Live thing. Once they get rid of the old Jone's Store (the vacant, smelly, eyesore) and start developing that area, people from the Marriott and Hotel Phillips will want to walk East, too, and not just West to the Convention Center.

They are a lot alike...I think the main difference is a message board is a bunch of people in the room all conversing whereas a blog is more focused with one or few people focusing a discussion and people branching off from what they start. The owner has creatice control whereas here the community has creative control.

This board is also missing some different things that would keep it from really being part of a "blog" community. I guess missing is kind of the wrong term since it is not trying to be a blog.
