Drafting for D

Is it really wise to put the d in the hands of the same people who have been evaluating talent, spouting we have good players, and making draft decisions on potential instead of results?

Simms drafted on potential -- hasn't proved poop just yet
Jr Siavai -- played very little college ball was the first choice of Chiefs and he has not shown much...yet. Imagine him being picked ahead of Allen.

I just think the evaluators might not know what the heck they are doing.

I am all for Gunther having the only say....Tell DV and CP to STFU and STFD.

Petersom mentioned in an interview earlier this week that their most successful defensive draft picks have been Gunther's choices. Hopefully they remember that this weekend. :thumb:

I keep reading that Sims was drafted on potential. IIRC, he was said to be the most complete DT, and most ready to start of all the DTs in his draft. I think that's why he was brought in. For immediate performance.......:cuss:

Yep. He was the "safe" pick. Well-rounded and ready, just not special.

Name "William Bartee" ring a bell?

Somebody needs to tell them to STFU . Keg you can mention Bartee, but its not certain that pick came from Gunther. Check out the '97 draft when Cunningham came here as DC. I don't think its any coincidence that the number of reaches and tweeners increased when DV got here. He needs to have very little say in the type defensive players we get this year or we'll have another repeat.
