Is this tampering?
Draft Dish:
April 22, 2005 By War Room scouts Sporting News TAMPERING? Do you wonder why some veterans refuse to take a pay cut -- even though it still would be more than they'd get on the street as a free agent -- and thus are released? The key words are "hypothetical" and "parameters." Linebacker Chad Brown was released Thursday in a stare down with Seahawks officials, who wanted to significantly reduce his $4.2 million base salary. While considering his options, Brown's agents have had "hypothetical" conversations with four teams. It appears at least one was speaking in "parameters" that exceeded the Seahawks' offer, so Brown's agents held firm and got his release before the draft. The Seahawks will save $1.3 million against the cap by cutting Brown now. Watch for Brown to visit at least one team Friday and potentially have a new deal by Saturday. - War Room scouts analyze NFL and college players, coaches and teams for the Sporting News. warroom.sportingnews.com/experts/war-room/20050422.html |
Sounds like his agent was actively shopping him around, more or less... Don't know how you can penalize teams for answering a question posed to them about their feelings about his client...
If the contact was originated by the team, however... That's definitely tampering. |
definately tampering
both the agent and team should get into trouble |

Unless that team turned out to be Denver then of coarse you would have a didn't name for it. :D |
