I'm in the market for some PC speakers - can any of ye help?

I'm not interested in a 5.1 setup as I want this mostly for listening to music. Right now I'm looking at a few logitech products:

You're not going to get much in the way of a 5.1 for $50.

Double your spending limit and you can get this for 79.99 + tax.

Logitech® X530 5.1 70W Speaker System (970114-0403)
• Five satellite speakers
• High-tech subwoofer
• Wall-mountable
• Patented technology

http://www.circuitcity.com/IMAGE/pro...1140403.RT.JPG

Immerse yourself in sound: Plug this system into your PC, music player, DVD player or even your PlayStation® or Xbox® game console. The matching front and rear satellites deliver balanced surround sound, and the dedicated center channel makes dialogue clear and intelligible. The clean, crisp, consistent sound will bring your music, movies and games to life.

Patented sound technology: The high-tech subwoofer adjusts itself dynamically to deliver distortion-free bass. The five wall-mountable satellite speakers use patented FDD2™ technology to eliminate the uneven sound response created by conventional dual-driver designs. The result is a clear, uniform sound field without the inconsistency of other dual-driver satellites.

Easy to place: The satellite speaker stands rotate for easy wall mounting or desk placement.

Note: Connecting to PlayStation®, Xbox®, or DVD players requires an adapter (sold separately).

I remeber when a Klipsch 5.1 setup cost around $700, times have changed.

Even at 80.00, I would be unhappy. To get a full sound, you really need to expect to spend at least 200.00 if not 300.00

Man, Klipsch is still the best you can get for PC sound. I spent $300 on one of the first sets of speakers they made for the PC almost 6 years ago. Best purchase I ever made. To my knowledge they do (or did) have a 2.1 set, but it'll be $150-200 probably. All I can say is you won't regret it, except maybe not getting 4.1 or 5.1. :p

splurrrrrgeeeee

I have the Pro Media 4.1's and I can never say enough about how good Klipsch speakers sound. They make my gaming experience more realistic ;)

I would go to Ebay and get a set of Boston Accousitics BA635. They will be under $30 and you won't find anything that sounds as good for under $100.

I would look around on Ebay for a used/open box set of Kilpsch Promedia 2.1's (should be plenty around $50-60). I have the 2.1's myself and really like em.

The promedia line is one of the few PC speakers that sound decent and you cant go wrong with them.
