hey all, this is mike jones. i know i've stayed silent for a long time, and for that i am sorry. it's just that i have spent the last year taking stock of things. i was forced to leave linkin park after the shortsighteds that i once called my friends criticized me mercilessly. the rap community now thinks i have gone soft. it's just not anything i want to deal with, it's all just worn me out. i spent all last night crying in my girlfriend's lap last night about it. then she broke up with me and i cried some more instead of doing something about it, because i have the will to be sad but not the will to correct the things which make me sad.

hey friends, this is mike jones. thanks for purchasing this album instead of downloading. do that all you want to the satan machine that is the RIAA. take 15 dollars out of their precious billions they could be using to free repression in east timor or putting music programs back in schools. the satan machine will be just fine without that fifteen dollars, don't worry. but when you buy an indie album such as this one, you are helping to keep the scene alive, and for that i sincerely thank you.

i'd like to kill a tree here and list some of the bands i've become friends with, you should check them out

* splinterhead * strike! swiftly soft * the nacho cheese ambassadors * appletooth * the john stinnett band * the captain crunch manifesto * remembering st. josh * the arizona army corps of engineers * deathdozer * boy constructs supercollider * blazing & glamorous * the angry taxpayers * saltwater sundays * baptized by ovaltine * strichnine * j. edgar hoover and the the happy lot of pygmies * elevenday * your dog stuart * grasshouser * invite to a party * asphalt altar * chemical dreams * paige dissenter * the outer space grave robbers * atomfoot * genderknee * the karate chop sarahs * noisebucket * monday somerset * lampbucket * [readymadejunctioneer] * bloodbasket * out of town none gladly * wordbullet * miles standish * stalwart.seafaring * kitchenelbow * the breakneck uvuli * position! it's merely with *

make sure you check them out, they put on some killer shows. if real music is to survive it's up to us. remember, if you dig deep enough, there's always good music out there. and if you dig deeper, there's admittedly bad music that survives on the strength of word-of-mouth and street cred. in indie rock it's all about the music, except of course when it is about hipsterism and and an inescapable superficialism that is commonly known as human nature. yes, the same sort of superficialism that we revile mainstream rap for. hopefully this album's lo-fi recording and rustic lack of production or effort will help you to forget this double standard. i bet those rap guys don't even know what "rustic" means.

Are those really liner notes for Mike Jones? If so, I honestly had no idea that the guy was into indy music and stuff. I mean, I knew that he was sort of an indy rapper, but I didn't realize he associated himself with the indy-rock scene. Weird. Doubly weird considering that he's on MTV now, too.

Shut up. This thread is now about Five Iron Frenzy.

That totally works for me.

Giving up never felt so good
Welcome to Plan B
Giving up, what is the likelihood
Life could be so free?

I'll eat some moldy bread
Then I'm going back to bed
I know how this day will crescendo
I'll fall asleep while I play Nintendo
