Christopher Lee to sing at heavy metal festival

Octogenarian actor Christopher Lee is reportedly performing at a heavy metal festival in Germany.

The 82-year-old Lord of the Rings star is taking part in the Earthshaker Festival in Geiselwind, Bavaria.

He will sing with two bands, Manowar and Rhapsody, according to concert organisers.

Lee will be accompanied by a live orchestra and a choir and will perform alongside heavy metal bands such as Grave Digger, Dragonlord and Forces of Evil.

He does the narration for Rhapsody's recent albums. I didn't he had any involvement with Manowar, but you can't get anymore metal than Manowar. :)

You a metal fan, gochiefs? 'Cuz it feels like I am all alone in my love for the metal genre.

I mostly enjoy 80s metal, hair bands, etc. New music doesnt do it for me.

To be frank, out of the bands you listed, only Metallica are truely metal. And then, only their first five albums. (First 4 = thrash metal, 5th = heavy metal)
The Stormtroopers are mroe accurately labeld under the grindcore genre.
GNR are pretty close to straight heavy metal, depending on one's definition. They're hard rock in mine.
Chevelle/Sevendust are hard rock; absolutely no metal in thier music.
AFI are innovaters of that emo-influenced hard rock sound that's so popular.

Reaper16 08-03-2005 11:48 PM

Buddy Guy would be a nice fit, too.

Ebolapox 08-03-2005 11:49 PM

it's funny who they list as metal--I've seen, in catalogues of music, rage against the machine (who ebola also digs) and marilyn manson both listed as metal--which I disagree withhmmm... ebola digs slayer, pantera, megadeth, kittie, robb zombie, WHITE zombie, and a few others---I don't feel like going through my mp3 playlist-EB-...yes, reaper, tech n9ne > everything/everyone else except for the mighty scanlon

Reaper16 08-03-2005 11:55 PM

You are right in your disagreement of metal status. And also in your digging of Rage. :) and of course, how could I presume Tecca Ninna to be beter than Scanlon. A grevious error.

I like how we hijacked a thread about metal and geriatric actors and turned it into blues reverence.

Saw Manowar & Rhapsody in Orlando in June. The buddy that took me to the show is heading to Germany for the Earthshaker Festival. Joey DeMaio, bass player for Manowar, is the manager for Rhapsody now (Luca Turilli is the shit!). Also, Holy Hell (Joe Stump - guitar) features a decent female lead singer... who doubles as the office manager for Manowar.
