Vailpass, 45-7 ???

Wasn't that your predicted score for today? Sorry, we only scored half that.

I do still think Iowa will have a very good team this year, and hope the best for them, but how 'bout you show a little respect as well.

Ease up on the arrogance for your team and the premature disrespect of your opponent.

Phobia 09-10-2005 11:21 PM

Yeah. I'm a Hawkeye fan and knew better than to run my pie hole last week. Much respect to clones today. They dismantled Iowa. Even with the starting QB. Made no difference. What an embarrassment for the Big Ten today. Over-rated.

ISUJeff 09-10-2005 11:48 PM

Thanks, not trying to run my mouth, just would like to see a little more respect.

Regardless, let's beat the Jets tomorrow.

I posted this in another forum but I think it's appropriate here:

1) Iowa always takes the ball when they win the toss. The wind was blowing over 30mph and they took the ball. They started their first 8 or so drives inside their own 30, including one at the 1. Conversely, ISU spent 90% of the first half inside Iowa territory. Field position is killer in a defensive game like that, and the wind made it worse.

2) Tate is a fierce competitor, no doubt about it. But he's GOT to know when not to take on a defensive player helmet-to-helmet. He put himself in harm's way and it wasn't smart.

3) Iowa looked like they didn't care about this game (again) whereas ISU was hyped up from the start (again). I know Iowa won 15 in a row during Hayden's time here, but dammit, it's time to start treating this like a rivalry again. ISU has won 6 of 8, it's time for the Hawkeyes to stop looking down their noses at them.

I'm bummed because everybody going in was worried about Iowa's defensive line and running game. At the end of the 3rd quarter, Iowa had almost 180 yards rushing while ISU had 80 on 33 carries. There's no excuse for losing this game...

After thinking about it last night, I'm pretty pissed that Iowa doesn't seem to take this game nearly as seriously as Iowa State. I almost feel like the Hawkeyes came out arrogant yesterday, and when you've lost 6 out of 8, there's no room for it...

ROFL
So ISU won because Iowa didn't take them seriously.
:shake:
This post truely reflects why Iowa fans are always perceived as arrogant.

ArrowheadHawk 09-11-2005 07:48 AM

Iowa was supposed to win because Iowa has the more talented team. Iowa St. just wanted it more. Sometimes it's just as simple as that.

I guess now all the national media will go back to polishing the SEC's knob. Them and Notre Dame. :shake: And I'm still not convinced that Notre Dame is all that good.

ArrowheadHawk 09-11-2005 08:01 AM

they should jump on the big 12 bandwagon the big 12 is 19-3

They may be 19-3 but that's a REALLY shaky 19-3. With Texas being the leader at the moment. Oklahoma has problems at QB and defense. Nebraska's offense is still a work in progress, but they have a solid D. Iowa St played inspired ball yesterday but who knows how good they are. Kansas St. has been lucky. Missouri is Jekyl/Hyde. Colorado hasn't played anyone. I thought Colo. St. was decent but they lost again yesterday so I'm not as impressed by Colorado's win against them last week. Kansas hasn't raised any eyebrows. Texas Tech could be very good. But they've played patsies too. Hell Baylor even won. I haven't seen A&M. yet With the exception of Texas no team has really stood out We'll see how it shakes out I guess.

The weaker team winning by wanting it more usually results in a win by a few points. This was a 20 point win. And also may I remind you that Meyer overthrew his WR who had beaten the Iowa DB on his way to the endzone....TWICE! This game could have been a much more humiliating loss for the Hawks. Why can't you Hawk fans be graceful when you lose? That's the ARROGANCE I'm talking about.

Frankie, I'm a Husker fan. I can be objective. Iowa came out totally unprepared to play yesterday. And they got there butts whipped. But Iowa should have beat the snot out of them.

htismaqe 09-11-2005 08:46 AM

Sorry Frankie but you're talking out of your ass.

Kirk Ferentz was out-coached by Dan McCarney.

Quite simple -- ISU was the better team yesterday. No arrogance about it.

mlyonsd 09-11-2005 09:29 AM

IMO the difference was ISU's defensive front. They dictated Iowa's game.

I'm a Hawkeye fun but am forced to admit the Suckclones totally dominated Iowa. Reality check time in Iowa City. The Hawks have been blessed with great coaching but they were sure shown up yesterday.

Great game by your Clones ISU Jeff. The Hawks made mistake after mistake and ISU made them pay for each and every one of them. Desire was clearly much greater by ISU. When the Hawks were marching for a score to bring it within 7 in the second half the ISU DB literally ripped the ball out of the Hawk receiver's hands. Will to win. ISU came to play and dictated the outcome by controlling the trenches.

To be accurate my quote was something like" on paper the Hawks should win this one 45-7 but when these two teams play anything can happen." From a talent perspective there is no reason ISU should have been within 40 points of the Hawks but that's what makes in-state rivalries so damn unpredictable.
It's neither arrogant or disrespectful to expect a team that has finished in the top ten for the last three years, is coming off a major bowl victory over LSU, and is currently ranked 8 in the country to thump a team that has not finished in the top twenty twice in the last 10 years and is currently unranked.

Again, props to ISU and their fans. You have in-state bragging rights for the year.

Damn, my Broncos got whipped, my Hawks lost to Moo-U, and I lost my opening Fantasy game(thanks Trent Green for that stellar 2 point performance). Anybody wanna' kick my dog?
