Ive lost all my CD Drives.....I Give up
I cant figure this one out. I think this happened when I did the last Windows Service Pack Upgrade but I really cant be for sure, anyway my 2 CD Rom Drives are unrecognized in "My Computer" and have an exclamation on them in the Device menu. I have tried removing them and reloading but the same problem. Windows says it can find the software "please in cd"....which I cant. In the Properties info , it says that there is an error in the registry. I've did a registry clean and repair, even tried a completely diffierent CD rom with the same result. I really dont want to go back in time and Restore for I will probably lose valuable stuff.
Any ideas????????? |
might try installing all your motherboard drivers again.
was it windowsXP service pack 2? |

I'm ticked at it for sure because it has tossed my favorite firewall program also....and of coarse I cant reload it without CD Rom |

service pack 2 is the latest and it doesn't play well with others :( |

do you know what type of mother board it is? |
Your motherboard's website will have the drivers.

I'd be looking at firmware (bios) update from your MB manufacturer as well.

might list it on outside cover of the CD itself. try and find the mobo brand and model then google search for new updated drivers. SP2 might not like your old mobo CD drivers. also do the same for the CD drivers themselves |

:cuss: Everthing else works fine on this computer as far as dowloading or searching, just the ROM drives. I will try to search the motherboard ifo again. |

---------------------------------- start > settings > control panel > System > Hardware > Device manager locate the device for the the drivers you want to reload right click > update driver point it to the correct location for drivers ------------------------------------- still think online for updated version is your best bet though |
