Still playing Dungeon Siege 2, and still enjoying it...

I haven't played a PC RPG for a long time, but I figured I'd give this one a try. The first one wasn't too bad, if somewhat limited.

I really like this game. The story is somewhat driven (it's not Baldur's Gate, but it's also not Diablo) but the underlying ruleset I really like.

I'm a stat/progression nut, I like to have my characters grow. The way characters in this game level up is very good, reminds me alot of Arcanum.

Basically you use whatever you find, and you level up whatever you use. So if you fight with a sword, you level up as a warrior. If you then switch to ice magic, you level up in nature magic.

I beta tested it. Not a bad game, but really, really easy. I don't think I could play the entire game through twice just to get to the difficult play settings. I had to make a decision the other night whether to get it or get Fable, and I went for Fable. I'm too busy right now to play much, anyway...

I know you hate Bethesda, but the next game I'm getting is Elder Scrolls IV. I stumbled across a 20 minute or so video preview that leaked online a few weeks back, and it looks amazing.

Well, yes the game is too easy.

But you know what else is easy? Modding the game.

In 5 minutes, I downloaded the software and edited the formulas.gas file so that my characters do 75% damage and monsters do 150%.

It's not nearly as easy now.

Like I said, I'd already played it. Either way, I'm glad I bought Fable, I'm enjoying it more. So far.

I played Fable on the XBox, definitely one of the best games I've played.

I also tried Morrowind (it came free with my vid card) and I just couldn't get into it. It's almost TOO expansive...

I'm still playing NWN - not the official scenario mind you, but community made expansions that are free. It's still a hell of a lot of fun and I'll keep playing it until Dragon Age comes out.

True that. It's definitely not for everyone. And Oblivion is even larger in terms of world-scale.

Me, I ate that game up. And both expansions. But I'm kind of an RPG nut. It's all I play. I'm sure I'll get Dungeon Siege 2 eventually, too.

Not to mention NWN2.

You would really like World of Warcraft, then. That game is freaking amazing and has the same leveling system as you described.

I don't play online games.

I hate people.

Damn, I need to get a new rig. There are so many great games out, and I don't even come close to meeting min. reqs. on them.

It just sucks that a computer that is perfectly capable of everything else I ask of it needs to be upgraded just for games.

What do you have?

I have a pretty old PIII 1Ghz and Dungeon Siege 2 plays well on it.

Athlon 750.

I've upgraded Ram and graphics card, but the processor just can't hang.

If if I could play it, I'd have to dial it down so far that I'm just as well off replaying BG2 in all it's glory rather than a bare bones newer game.

I have a PIII-1000 with 512MB of RAM and a 256MB ATI All-in-Wonder 8900 and I run it MAX'd out with very little problems.

The engine isn't a far cry different than the original Dungeon Siege engine...
