Hurricane Wilma has forced a change of plans for the Kansas City Chiefs. With the hurricane expected to make landfall in Florida sometime Sunday, KC's game at Miami--originally scheduled for noon Sunday--has been moved up to 6:00 central time Friday night.

Due to NFL regulations, KWCH is not allowed to broadcast the game. In situations such as this, NFL rules allow the game to be televised only in markets located within a 75-mile radius of the two cities playing the game. In this case, it means Topeka and Kansas City will be the only Kansas television markets allowed to broadcast the game.
“We are extremely disappointed that we cannot carry the game," KWCH Vice President and General Manager Joan Barrett said. "I have been on the phone with CBS and the NFL all day. But due to NFL regulations, CBS is not allowed to provide the game to markets outside of Topeka and Kansas City.”

Viewers can register complaints with the National Football League by calling its offices at (212) 450-2000.

The schedule change means the Chiefs and Dolphins will both lose two days of game preparation. KC will now have to fly to Miami Friday morning, and play the game just a few hours later. Not the ideal scenario in a place where the Chiefs had already lost five straight visits.
"It puts us at a competitive disadvantage," Chiefs general manager Carl Peterson said. "It's a lot to ask to shorten your week down, which both teams have to do, but then have to get on an airplane and fly for three and a half hours on the same day that you're going to play a three-and-a-half-hour National Football League regular season game.
"It's difficult, but we're going to do it because the National Football League wants us to."</i>
