Can someone tell me how to post a link to another article that is a "hot button"? Sorry to be so stupid!

bkkcoh 09-29-2000 12:35 PM

Coogs,

All I have had to do is paste the url into the message box.

bk<BR>

morphius 09-29-2000 12:35 PM

You can just put cut it from the address bar and the paste it into your message. Nothing special. Now if you want to give it a diff name and hide the link that will take some more explaining. Best if you just edit my post and see exactly what gets typed in.

Example of plain link: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/001269.html

Example of link with diff name:
<a href="http://www.chiefsplanet.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/001269.html">This Page</a><BR>

Morphus,

Tried that, but it doesn't work. It isn't underlined, in blue, nor will the index finger cursor come on when I put the cursor on the address. I hate being stupid.

morphius 09-29-2000 12:56 PM

Coogs - You have to make sure to get the http:// piece.

Morphus,

I did that also, but all I can get is just regular typed text like this.

RaiderCorporate 09-29-2000 05:31 PM

Try this:

<p align="center"><a href="bogus/reference.shtml">CLICK HERE </a> </p>

RaiderCorporate 09-29-2000 05:51 PM

If you are using Internet Explorer click on View, Source, to see the coding for this page, then do a search for “try this” and examine the coding that follows it.

Morphus and RaiderCorporate,

Sorry, I tried to edit both of your posts, but I still can't get this figured out. Thanks for all your help, but the last 2 posts is all I can ever come up with.

Coogs 09-29-2000 09:44 PM

RaiderCorporate

Also tried what you wanted me to do in post #8, but what I saw was a bit over my head. What exactally am I suppose to look for when all that info comes up?

RaiderCorporate 09-30-2000 06:35 PM

Pay close attention. The next section will contain the coding for what was offered in #7 plus a bunch of semicolons ( http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/wink.gif to screw it up enough that it doesn't get translated to #7.

;<;p; align;=;";center;";>;<;b;>;<;a; href;=;";bogus/reference.shtml;";>;CLICK HERE ;<;/;a;>;<;/;b;>; ;<;/;p;>;

Cut and paste this text into your word processor, then remove ALL semicolons ( http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/wink.gif. REMOVE ONLY THE SEMICOLONS ( http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/wink.gif. Save the text file with the extention ".html" and remember the location on your drive where you saved the file. Then, to test it, go to your browser (assuming Internet Explorer 5)and click on File, Open then in the field type in the location of your file, starting with the drive letter (example, d:\myfolder\test.html) or click on the BROWSE button and point and click your way to the file location. Then click on the OKAY button and you should see what is presented in #7.

RaiderCorporate 09-30-2000 06:37 PM

Sorry for the error in previous post. The smiley faces are supposed to be semicolons - ; - like that one.

Just the semicolons...
