Speakeasy - OUTKAST Style

The boys from Outkast have a movie coming out. Set in a speakeasy. The trailer looks really cool!

Yahoo movie synopsis:

Set against the backdrop of a 1930s southern speakeasy, Percival (André Benjamin), a shy piano player, and Rooster (Antwan Patton), the club's showy lead performer and manager, struggle to keep their dreams alive.

Idlewild

I don't really care about the movie, but I'm definitely looking forward to the soundtrack.

Casting director: "We need some black actors."
White executive pops his head into the office: "TERRENCE HOWARD VING RHAMES"

Man, thanks for the link. This looks like a really good flick, and the soundtrack should be bangin as well. But I'm sure there are alot of people out there that only know Outkast as "the guys that sing the Hey Ya song", if you are a good music fan you really need to check out:

Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik
ATLiens
Aquemini

All of these albums are classics with Aquemini being my personal favorite.

ZootedGranny 01-17-2006 11:08 PM

Aquemini is definitely my favorite as well. I'd probably rank them:

Aquemini
Southernplayalistic...
ATLiens (this and SPCM is a tossup for #2)
Stankonia
Speakerboxxx/Love Below

that is probably how I'd rank, but its tough to do, so many good tracks(the ones that didn't get airplay) on Stankonia as well. I think their last album was good, but I really think it was just an expiremental thing, if you notice, most of the good tracks featured the other guy. I'd really like to see Sleepy Brown come out with his own album, and the new Purple ribbon All Stars has about 4 or 5 tracks that I can chill to.

That's my list also. I'm one of the biggest Outkast fans you'll never meet.
I was at the Stankonia concert in Cincy, Ludacris opened up for them before he was "Ludacris". Unbelievable concert, I cant wait til this soundtrack releases. They're also suppose to come out with another album soon. But it's been pushed back so many times I couldn't tell you when it's comming out.
An album that is extremely under-rated is The Dungeon Family.

ZootedGranny 01-18-2006 03:47 AM

Nobody gives that Dungeon Fam album enough love. I think that and the past 2 Cee-Lo albums have been the best DF related music put out since Aquemini.

Killer Mike's followup album looks like it'll be better than "Monster," but I'm really looking forward to the next Goodie Mob album now that Cee-Lo is back with them. Plus, the Witchdoctor is coming back with a new album produced entirely by DJ Kno.

hush that fuss

CHENZ A! 01-18-2006 06:12 PM

Any of you all remember that dude form the DF "Slim Cutta Calhoun"? What ever happened to him after that one hit song?

KcMizzou 01-18-2006 06:16 PM

Cool, I'll see it. Outkast rules.

I'll take tracks 8 through 10 off that album, but the whole thing is classic.
