what is tony worth?

IF the chiefs were to trade Tony g for some reason ... what is his worth in draft picks.

DaKCMan AP 02-27-2006 06:27 PM

a 2nd, a 4th or 5th, and a whole lot of pie

so that's about a low 1st rounder then?

Hootie 02-27-2006 06:30 PM

a 2nd or 3rd rounder.

Taco John 02-27-2006 06:33 PM

How many years are on his contract, and at what base rate?

I would guess somewhere between a second and third round pick, depending on the circumstances. I think Tony would be hard to trade. The Chiefs would need to get a second round pick for the guy, and the bidding team would only want to part with a third for a Tight End, knowing that they can get a pretty good tight end in the second or third round of the draft.

I wonder if Atlanta would be willing to part with a second to pair Tony up with Michael Vick? That would be the type of situation where I could see the Chiefs getting a second rounder for Tony.

I know I don;t expect much in the way of football from a Donks fan, but why do they go out and get TG when they have Alge Crumpler?

jspchief 02-27-2006 06:50 PM

3rd rounder at best. Gonzo is too expensive for anyone to be that interested.

Not many teams think a TE is worth 5+ million per year.

Rain Man 02-27-2006 07:36 PM

He's worth more to us than another team would trade for him.

Bwana 02-27-2006 07:43 PM

3rd

Where's the T.O. option?

Trade Tony for T.O. and a draft pick. Do you think the eagles would bite?

wolfpack0735 02-27-2006 07:54 PM

at the combin there was a TE that ran a 4.39 40. he looked like a tackle. huge arms and thighs. he`ll go high.

Exactly what I think, too. I'd put Priest and T-Rich in that category as well, and probably a few other guys who don't come directly to mind.

...I most likely could have just said "Yep" here instead.

Under ideal circumstances a 2nd. Very similar to the Patrick Surtain situation. Only a limited number of productive years left (likely 3), Pro Bowl players (though Tony has more, CB is a more strategic position on most teams).

Iowanian 02-27-2006 08:22 PM

3rd.

He's a great TE....but he's a TE.
