Is Robert Holcombe going to be our starting FB?

is this guy going to be T-Rich's replacement, or do we have other plans?

anyone have any insight?

I thought we released Holcombe.

Red Dawg 05-01-2006 12:23 PM

I hope he's recovered. He can definitely do the job.

Cormac 05-01-2006 12:24 PM

I think he signed for 2 years, so I guess he's still with us. I hope he will be starting. I think we'll need him.

htismaqe 05-01-2006 12:26 PM

We released him AFAIK.

My info is that Holcombe's knee injury ended his career, and he no longer shows up on the Chiefs' depth chart. Ronnie Cruz & Kris Wilson are our fullback/h-backs.

Holcombe isn't even our 2nd or 3rd string FB.

We reached an injury settlement with ihm last year.

Ultra Peanut 05-01-2006 12:31 PM

It's too bad, though. He would have been nice to have once we lost T-Rich.

tk13 05-01-2006 12:32 PM

Ronnie Cruz baby!

Kris Wilson is gonna be the lead blocking, pass-catching, secret weapon this year..... take it to the bank........

Mr. Kotter 05-01-2006 12:47 PM

Who knows...

...unless Kris Wilson's been working his butt off....:hmmm:

:p

EDIT: Sorry Fish, I was 12 minutes late! :banghead:

Archie Bunker 05-01-2006 12:50 PM

Cruz or maybe Slaughter should be able to get the job done. If both make the squad I see Cruz being more of a running/receiving FB and Slaughter being more of a traditional lead blocker.

Cormac 05-01-2006 01:47 PM

Crap, I didn't realise Holcombe was gone. I am still really disappointed that TRich was let go. Even with his age, and his involvement in only 30% of plays or whatever, but he was an invaluable member of the team, IMO. And we have $9m in cap space. We'll regret it....especially if Ronnie Cruz is lead blocking from the 5 yard line.

Ugh.
