I had a marketing professor who was from India. He once made the statement that many Indians don't bother buying new cars because they get so many dings on them after only a few days off of the lot. This seems to illustrate why!

If you watch, there's one pedestrian in the lower right corner who ends up with two vehicles simultaneously going around him, directly in front and directly behind, about a foot away. Once they pass, he just continues on his merry way.

stop lights are clearly overrated

This is the system I envision, but sensors in the road would actually take control of your vehicle while in the intersection to avoid collisions. I hate traffic lights. They are so inefficient.
