Herm showing confidence in his problem solving skills.

Herm interview of 8/21:

Q: Are you disappointed in the young guys that haven’t stepped up?

EDWARDS: "... So, this week we have to have a better focus on what we’re going to do. We’ve been practicing well; practicing is not a problem. If we weren’t practicing well I’d be a little bit disappointed. I’m disappointed that they haven’t carried it from the practice field to the game. They work so hard and they’ve got to enjoy what they’ve done on the practice field and apply it to the game.”

Q: Have you figured out why they haven’t been able to do it?

EDWARDS: “Nah, I can’t figure that out. You’d go crazy trying to figure that out. I’ll let everyone else around here do that.
We’ve got three weeks before the opener and that’s what you always look out for. You look at the opening day and what the roster is going to look like, who are the players that will be healthy and you hope you can go into the opening game with all your starters healthy. You want that for sure and you want them to improve the next two weeks.”

I'm okay with that. I PREFER Solari to fix the offense, not Herm.

Chiefnj 08-22-2006 08:56 AM

I'm sorry, but I think it is the job of the head coach to figure out why the team has been playing like dog poo on gameday. I'm oh so glad he's delegating that task to others like Gunther to figure out.

HemiEd 08-22-2006 08:59 AM

I don't think Herm is really that Dumb, but I can not say that about Gunther.

htismaqe 08-22-2006 09:01 AM

So let me get this straight:

If he delegates to Solari, it's OK. But if he delegates to Gunther, it's not?

Hog's Gone Fishin 08-22-2006 09:08 AM

The true sign of a leader is having the ability to delegate.

The true sing of a LEADER is to LEAD.

Middle managers "delegate".

He was dodging the question. He knows what the problems are and who they are but he's not going air out the durty laundry.

Yes that "DURTY" I live in the south.

Exactly.

It's like people expect him to just say "Yeah, we need to get Hali back on the field because Eric Hicks sucks."

Didn't he say that when he said "the quarterback is faster than some of our defensive linemen, and that's a problem."

Maybe the team only looks good in practice because they are practicing against each other. When you get it out on the field, it looks like poo.

Essentially.

But it doesn't specifically address the problem. We already know that the QB is faster than our linemen. The question is what he's going to DO about it.

The thing is -- HE'S NOT GOING TO TELL US.

We're fans. We're not ever going to hear the pure, unadulterated truth from a coach. We didn't get it from Marty, we didn't get it from Vermeil, and we're certainly not going to get it from Herm.

That's because the whole team sucks.

We're the best 4-12 team in the league.

jAZ 08-22-2006 09:21 AM

If we win, he's effectively delegating.

If we lose, he's a failed leader.

Sucks to be head coach in the NFL.
