OT:Salt water fishing vs fresh water fishing, which do you prefer..and why..

well..I know a majority here are probably inlanders..but you never know..
I personally like salt water fishing and do not do any fresh water fishing..
lets discuss..
my personal favorite.1)blackfish..a very hard fish to catch..using fiidler crabs and green crabs for bait..

I prefer fresh water but I've never even been to the ocean...

oh man actually i prefer salt water, bigger fish. Of couse my absolute favorite is the louisiana marsh, which is brackish, salt and fresh.

Fresh is probably all the fishing Im ever going to get to do now..My disabilities wont warrant me any thing else..Only salted once for stripers it was fun..Still fish for crappies, channel cats, whipers and my favorite flathead catfish..This year has been real slow because of the drough here in se kansas hope this fall is better ... Fishing the goal is. Saltwater or freshwater, it matters not.

When the saltwater fishing is good, there's nothing I'd rather be doing. The speed of saltwater fish is unreal. That being said, I only get to fish the salt about once a year, and this year it freaking sucked.

no question salt water fishing. no question

I can't choose either, I like them both. When I lived in FL, I always took the same boat to deep sea fish and caught nice Grouper (like pulling a refrigerator out of the water). If I went to the dock, I caught Spanish Mackerel (and the occasional stingray). If I bank fished, I caught marine catfish and marine trout. Here at home, I catch panfish (nothing like frying up a bunch of perch), and goggleye (and the occasional bass). I also have caught a bunch of trout from Taneycomo. I love em all.

I do a lot of fly fishing, btu make it up to Alaska about once every two years to go after the kings and halibut. Both are great.

It depends on the season. In April I have trout on my mind. June and July it's fluke. Early October is whitetail only and then late October - November it's tog.

I love Salmon and Tuna fishing, so Saltwater for me..

JuicesFlowing 02-06-2009 11:10 PM

Freshwater. Never fished in the ocean. Or the Great Salt Lake.

chief52 02-06-2009 11:16 PM

I live right on the ocean. I fall asleep listening to the fog horn. I really enjoy ocean fishing, but my favorite is stream fishing. Trout...Steelhead...Salmon. Stream fishing is not nearly as good as it once was here, but it so much more peaceful to me.
