$Scratcher Tickets$ - Help

What is the best way to play lottery scratchers tickets..

I NEVER play these things but won a $26 Kansas Lottery coupon from the Radio Station.

How can I maximize my profits -

Sell them for $13 to the lady who drives up to the QT in a $300 car and call it a day.

Thats the only way you'll come out ahead.

That's like asking the best way to choose a side for coin flips... except the odds are more stacked against you.

Go buy a bunch of tickets and have fun with it. Chances are you'll be lucky to get 10% of it back in real money.

Back in my teen years I worked at a gas station.

These older folks would come in and stand at the counter with a line of people behind them scratchin tickets.

I always had to work around them while they scratched.

And when they left I had to clean up all the little shavings they left behind.

I hate those things.

I hate those things.

When I was in college I worked at a station and every roll of 300 scratch tickets contained two $50 winners.

I worked a 12 hour shift and if I sold enough tickets without a winner being turned in I'd take the rest of them. The one risk was that someone got a winner and hadn't turned it in yet...but luckily I never got burned.

Nice method.

Sometimes people brought in their powerball tix for me to scan ( I guess they were too lazy to watch the news).

I was always tempted to say none of them won, then keep the ones that did.

Cool. I'm not the only person who's done that.

now just curious has anyone on here ever won big with these?

Frosty 12-06-2006 03:08 PM

I won $2 one time. Now I win a dollar every time I don't buy one. ;)

I have a buddy that plays them constantly. He wins big ones here and there, $300, maybe $1k at most but in the grand scheme of things he's losing his ass.

His big strategy is to play ones with low "jackpots" (low max rewards), theory being that they give out more $500 prizes on a game than $5000 prizes.

My strategy is that they are statistically designed to turn a profit so don't throw your money away.

Seriously it's blind luck. Just enjoy it for what it is. Don't go in expecting to make money.

Just go buy 13 crossword puzzles. If nothing else it'll take you a while to get them all scratched. Or do like me and just scratch off the letters section and read the small print letters. that'll tell you how much you win. .

The 1/2 price sale outside sounds like the sure cash.

Use it for Beer.
