Lamar Hunt's Fight Shows True Spirit

Being a Kansas City Chiefs fan my entire life, the name Lamar Hunt has been embedded in my mind since I first met him when I was six years old. My father told me he was the owner of my favorite football team as we were introduced and I shook his hand. Through the years I’ve met him several times. Each time he was as gracious a man as I’ve ever met. He has always reminded me of my grandfather.

I'm currently giving this cold 110% too.

Does that mean if you die of cancer you're a loser? Do some people just give it 80% effort to stop having cancer?

Stand by for about a million stories using sports metaphors and idiomatic language to recount Lamar's career and passing, Mr. skye22f.

"He gave us our Kansas City Chiefs football team.

The Chiefs are our football team. Yes, the Hunt Family owns them, but from the first play at Municipal Stadium to the last one on Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium, the Chiefs are as much the fans’ team as they are Hunt’s.

That can’t be said in most other NFL cities. Today we all need to pull together and say a prayer. We need to do that because our 74-year old owner would do the same for each and every one of us.

Godspeed, Lamar Hunt, and know that every single Chiefs fan is praying that you get another day, another week or another year to share your life with your family, friends and the millions of Kansas City Chiefs fans who are thankful for your kindness, love and support that you have gracefully shared with each of us the last 43 years."

Maudlin. Sorry for Mr. Hunt, but this is awful. Elizabeth Merrill reads like Hemingway in comparison. Wh!tlock like Shakespeare. This is JoPo in the fourth grade. Feeble.

Maybe we can put aside any disdain for Nick Athan for a while. I think it's obvious he has a lot of respect for Lamar Hunt.

Just shut up, man... I see your point, but it's a bad time to be a smartass.

It's wrong, but I bet Nick Athan reports Lamar's death two weeks later afterward.

You'd think he could at least bother to get H. Roe Bartle's name right.

I guess It's not that important. He's only the namesake of the Chiefs.

Phobia 12-13-2006 03:09 AM

How about I start another thread on which trashing Nick would be appropriate?

InvinciBill 12-13-2006 03:11 AM

I was commenting in hopes of having it fixed immediately.

Phobia 12-13-2006 03:16 AM

;) I'm actually cracking up a bit. I don't think it's gonna be fixed tonight. I didn't notice it until you pointed it out. I think my eyes just fixed it before it reached my brain.
