How would we stockpile draft picks?

One of Herm's apparent desires this year is to stockpile draft picks.

Post your plan to do just that.

Who would you trade and (realistically) for what?

Frankie 03-30-2007 02:56 PM

Trentb Green for a 4th
Wesley for a 4th
Jarred Allen for a 1st and 5th
Our 1st for a couple of 2nds (one early)

I'm still thinking....

Direckshun 03-30-2007 02:57 PM

This is what I'm thinking we would do.

Trent for a 4th.

Wesley for a 5th. (Still a fairly young FS with loads of starting experience.)

Kevin Sampson for a low-rounder. (RFA who's young, and did fairly well when he had an opportunity to solidify the right side, but injury-prone.)

Samie Parker and Dante Hall for either a couple of low rounders or a 3rd or 4th.

Maaaaaaybe Kris Wilson somewhere? He'd be worth a low rounder. We'll say 6th.

Grand total, we'd have a first and a second rounder, three to four picks from rounds 3-5 and three to five picks from rounds 6-7.

(I tried my best to avoid the inevitable murmuring about LJ and Jared Allen.)

Trent Green for a 5th.

Wesley for a 5th.

Jared Allen for a 2nd and 3rd.

Yep. Maybe trade down one or two times as well.

Boomer Grigsby (untested FB) for a pick (to get an experienced FB)

Will Shields (before he retires) for a 1st & a 4th rounder

Lawrence Tynes for a 2nd rounder

I am sorry but that was just dumb.

Ouch.

CoMoChief 03-30-2007 03:21 PM

Speaking of Shields, any word on what he's gonna do?

el borracho 03-30-2007 03:24 PM

Green for a 5th
Wesley for a 5th
Allen for a 1st and 3rd
Trade down with one of the 1st rounders for a 2 and a 3...

... ending up with 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 5, 5, 5, 6, 7

Is it really "stockpiling" if we end up with just two more than we usually have?

He's still waiting for Roaf to call and tell him what to do.

ChiefsCountry 03-30-2007 03:38 PM

Trade Green and see if someone can take Wesley off our hands, other than that we dont have much value to anybody or I really dont want to get rid of.

el borracho 03-30-2007 03:44 PM

Ooops!

Should have had us ending up with the following:

1, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 5, 5, 5, 6, 7

Well, first off I neglected a third and a fifth round pick in my original post so add that in to make a total of 11 picks. Secondly, by the time the draft rolls around we usually don't have all 7 of our original picks thanks to Carl so, yes, having 11 would be stockpiling.
