I've been listening to Denny for years. Can't imagine anyone else doing broadcasts for the Royals.

As they have been saying on the Metrosports tributes..."Thanks for the years, Denny."

"For Fred White and Denny Trease, I'm Denny Mathews wishing you a good night from Milwaukee County Stadium, where the Royals take the series with a 7-6 win over Milwaukee's Brew Crew............."

Denny Mathews, The Voice of my youth.

Thanks, Denny!

Yeap, they were great MLB spokesmen. They were great competitors, athletes and gentlemen. Major sports needs more players like them to represent thier sport. :toast:

Congrats to both of them.

I like having XM radio so that I can here Denny Matthews on the play by play. Reminds me of the glory days of Royals baseball. Hopefully he will be around long enough to see that happen again :)

It's actually on ESPN Classic here... It was a good speech... He about lost it 2-3-4 times... What amazed me was Tom Seaver introduced him... I thought maybe Brett wasn't there to do it, but old George was right there on stage... Yep; Brett looks just like he did when he retired...

And yes --- the Guy's nuts line was so damn funny... He done pretty good til he mentioned David Glass being a great team owner...

Neverless --- great speech...
