NCAA probing Kansas State; school says it's cooperating

MANHATTAN, Kan. -- Kansas State discovered possible rules violations in its football program and is cooperating with the NCAA in an investigation.

Athletic director Tim Weiser said Tuesday the Big 12 school reported the violations to the governing body. He said the investigation centers around one former university employee, three former football players and two current members of the team.

"To this point there is no evidence that any member of the coaching staff, support staff or representatives of our athletics interests are involved,'' Weiser said.

He said the school hired outside counsel to assist in its internal investigation.

"We have never, nor will we ever, tolerate intentional violations of NCAA rules,'' Weiser said. "Should it be determined that violations have occurred, we will take whatever steps necessary to ensure that we maintain the highest standard for compliance.''

I'm guessing it isn't that.

Couple of players cheated on some papers. The tutor helped, or just outright wrote the papers for them.

That's unfortunate, and I'm not going to go throwing rocks...

well advised. The initial investigation by KSU and NCAA indicate that the tutor aided 3 players. No employees of the athletic department, boosters, coaches, or any school officials knew of the assistance.

This is a very minor issue, and all 3 players involved are no longer in the program. One player, Josh Moore, is still under investigation, but it is believed he will be cleared eventually.

In the grand scheme of things I think this is fairly minor, but it's still a no no!!

Tutor apparently wrote the paper(s) for the players over the Summer, and had a sexual liaison with said players. Sounds like she was a jock strap chaser and getting the tube was her payment in kind for writing the papers.

This is pretty pedestrian stuff, but still an infraction.

I hate seeing shit like this happen to Big 12 schools not named Mizzou.

The whole Ricky Clemons thing put us over quota for years to come.

The best part of that whole deal, if there is one, is that the football team came out squeaky clean. They looked at the entire athletic department and football was on the straight and narrow. It was nice to see that a DI football program could still be clean, even if Quin et al were a mess.

I have this vision of cowgirls outside the athletic dorms with signs saying,"Will right term papers 4 SEX!"

I'd hit it.

I'd pick the one who's sign said 'Will write term papers 4 sex".

But that's just me.
