I can't believe they didn't include that hotel in North Korea. I'm fascinated by that hotel.

I find the Gaddafi one particularly amusing

The Hotel of Doom?

It's funny you say that, because the place where I found this nominated the Hotel of Doom for the list.

I do, too. It's just so ... explicit. It's like one step short of a statue of Ghadaffi taking a dump on Ronald Reagan's face. Message: Symbolism is just too subtle for us!

Rain Man 11-21-2007 12:11 PM

Yeah, I love that hotel. I'd take a vacation there if the hotel was habitable and ... well, if North Korea was habitable.

Lenin is still looking pretty good.

I hadn't heard of the Hotel of doom until this thread. that P.O.S. is hillarious. there's still a crane for construction stuck up on top.

I'm shocked they missed number one:

The Motherland Calls statue in Russia to honor the dead in the Battle of Stalingrad (WWII):

From wikipedia: "When memorial was dedicated in 1967 it was the tallest sculpture in the world, measuring 85 meters (279 feet) from the tip of her sword to the top of the plinth. . . . It appears on both the current flag and coat of arms of Volgograd Oblast."
