So when do we fire Dumther Cunningham?

???

Still waiting for him to bring back that "dominant Chiefs defense" he promised, oh, what, four years ago?

Whose he going to blame this year, two years after acquiring every player on his "list of players" to turn the chiefs D around?

I'm beginning to think Gunther is the Carl Peterson of defensive coordinators.

This whole staff needs to be canned if Herm is coming back...

dirk digler 12-09-2007 08:43 PM

The whole coaching staff needs to be shit canned along with Herm

kcfan82 12-09-2007 08:46 PM

Well, he has no DT's, he's make chicken salad with chicken sh*t....

His corners belong in a retirement home and last time I looked it still is a top 10 defense.

The defense might be a little more motivated if they new when they stopped someone, there would be more than a 1.3487698734% chance the offense will put points on the board.

Or if we didn't run them out there 14 times a half after 13 three and outs.

The only thing I'll say in defense of our D is that they have been on the field for practically the entire season, so naturally they're beat up.

But don't get me wrong, I'm all in favor of some shitcanning.

Yeah, but the smart move would be to start on the other side of the ball and special teams.

all I have to say is f' u.

I just feel sorry for Gunther, and the entire D, and Brodie and especially Tony G.

I might buy that argument, except that teams with bad offenses have had good defenses before, despite the bad offenses. Hell, Baltimore even won a Super Bowl with one.

Now I'm not saying I expect a 2000 Baltimore defense. But I am saying what the hell is Dumther doing wasting energy defending the likes of Kendrell Bell instead of acquiring impact defensive players?

Hes been back here enough years to get players on defense, and he hasn't. In the meanwhile, he's taken the opportunity to blame everyone else for his shortcomings, from the players to DV...

Starts at the top.... 12M I wonder how much CP get's for saving Clark that money not spent.....

Seems like this happens regularly in 19 years.

From the way I've heard this organization works, the coordinators only have a little more say in who we acquire and sign than we on this board do.
So far I think that the defense has done a tremendous job considering how little they are getting from the offense. You can't continually go three and out keeping your defense on the field with a short field to defend and expect good results. I think the defense saw the writing on the wall that after four straight losses and the same conservative playcalling with our gunslinging QB, that nothing is going to change. They can clearly see that our current coach, while he made them better, is not going to be the answer that we have all waited for since 1969.
If this organization has more than a single brain cell the head coach will be canned. When this happens most new coaches will bring in their own guys. We may be just as bad next year as this, but it should be because we are going with a young team that will have a learning curve. Not sure where that is going to leave guys like Tony Gonzales that have a few good years left in them. We will probably need to replace at least 4 of the 5 offensive line positions within the next two years, come up with another good young receiver, a true fullback and patch up some age on defense.

I want the whole thing gutted.

Gunther is doing fine especially being forced to run a cover 2. If we had anything of an offense we are 10-3 right now.

Well we did pick up Donnie Edwards to replace Kendrell as a starter I believe. Everything aside, the defense is certainly the last thing we should be concerned about with this team. They gave up 41 to Denver today, but the offense gave them 0 help.

It starts with the GM, coaching, special teams, and and of course the offense.....

Granted we're still minus LJ, not that the Oline could get him a hole.

What do we really have? Our CBs are drawing SS checks, our DL is slightly above horrible (with the exceptions of the ends). We have one young linebacker. It's safe to say that our young safeties are somewhat disappointing.

In terms of production, we're still pretty soft against the run, we're giving up big plays consistently, and we still can't stop the bootleg.

I'm a little mystified over how good this defense is really supposed to be at this point.

Exactly. This D has alot of holes, almost has many as the offense. The entire secondary needs replaced, the DTs still suck, and Harris is a liability. Not to mention the complete lack of depth.

This D has a long way to go and personally I'd like to see a new DC take them there. I've watched Gun's defenses make the same mistakes year after year and I'm done with him.
