Defensive changes

what say ye about the defensive side of the ball? did Gunther do a good job or no? Does he deserve another year? who do you expect the Chiefs to add to the D in the (likely) absence of Law/Surtain/Bell/Reed/Wesley? What other D players do you think get their walking papers......exciting times @ Arrowhead on the Offensive side of the ball ....what about the D IYO

I used ot be a GUN fan. He's shown me nothing since he came back. It's time for him to move on.

Our defense was one of the best ones in the NFL. They just ran out of gas, physically and emotionally, by carrying the 'O.' I like Gun, but I won't mind replacing him with a good young DC.

I agree with the concept, but our defense stopped being "one of the best" when we started playing real offenses. We were good, but we really had trouble stopping the run all season and gave up the big play far too often. I hoped the defense would be better than it is, in this, the 4th season under GUN.

Its hard for me to complain about the job GUN has done... considering we had NO ONE to work with on defense when he became DC he has done a damn good job putting some peices together.

Sure, its not the '97 defense, but a player like DT doesn't grow on tree's either.

I would say, don't rock the boat on defense while you are blowing up the offense. The D still has room to improve with the many young guys there, then add some young CB's and keep it going

Deberg_1990 01-02-2008 10:39 AM

Gun blows.

Sure the defense has improved since he took over but thats not saying much really.

There are still massive problems with the defense. They still give up big plays. They still get gashed on the ground up the middle.

Same old same old.....Time for Gun to go. He should have been canned after the atrocious December of 2005. Why cant this organization grow some balls????

Gunther has a proven track record of gawd-awful personnel decisions. His scheme is one-dimensional, and he is slow to make adjustments.

To echo past posters, Gun sucks.

This franchise needs to be gutted.

King_Chief_Fan 01-02-2008 11:08 AM

I say bye bye to Gun. His defense is as predictable as KC's offense. OT against the Jets, what was that. Jets marched down the field with ease.
I think Gun is done.

Gun just needs some new guys.

You know, this defense does not really look like a Gunther defense, to me. Does it to you guys? I'm talking about the aggressiveness. Then again, I suppose the C2 doesn't lend itself to the corner blitz. Not that either one of our corners could get to the backfield in less than a minute.

we had good players when gun's d was good

Micjones 01-02-2008 11:27 AM

I like Gunther Cunningham.

Can't say I wouldn't jump at the change to upgrade that spot though.

He's not coaching the style of defense he's used to...

Exactly why i always questioned why did Herm keep this turd around when he came aboard???

Direckshun 01-02-2008 11:31 AM

I think Gun should stay. His playcalling is solid, in my opinion, and his leadership off the field is stellar.

Mark my words, the Chiefs want to draft two starting corners and a stud DT. They probably want a DE, too, an OLB to be Edwards' heir on the weak side and some depth at S.

That's a lot of gaps to fill, to say nothing of lots OL and at least one WR (or god forbid a K), which leads me to believe the Chiefs may trade down this year.
