Dan Dierdorf
Maybe it's just me but did anyone else think that at any moment, Dierdorf was going to run onto the field and start sucking off random players yesterday?
I don't envy the job of a sportscaster but he is starting to get a little Maddenesque IMO. The verbal excrement exiting this guys hole annoys me like no other. (except Randy Cross) It seemed to me that he would say the following lines every few minutes about any random player: 1. "That guy is a special player." 2. "Now THAT is a National Football League player!" 3. "That guy has worked hard to become a star in this league!" And my favorite, 4. "I wish that guy was in me right now!" (I may have made that last one up) |
He was brutal yesterday, but still not as annoying as Madden IMO.

I hate that jowly faced doorknob. I always like his
How big/important/huge was that play/tackle/catch? "Questions" he always asks. Some announcers today have gone the way of the soundbite or trying to make every thing that happens on the field the most important football play ever. Ron Jaworski does this as well. "He MADE the play HE needed to MAKE, WHATTA THROW PLACED PERFECTLY BY KYLE BOLLER" |
Dierdorf is one of those people who's tongue seems too big for their own mouth. The poor guy can't seem to talk without his cow tongue getting in the way.... it bothers me watching him speak....

He is about the only announcer I know that gives props to oline play when it is deserved.
Of course, he can relate. |
but the Steaks at Dierdorf & Hart's
(Jim Hart of STL Cardinal Football fame and AD at SIU-C) ARE GOOD. |
