I had breakfast with Brian Billick this morning
Coach Billick, Randy Cross, Spencer Tillman and Ron Barr were here today for the troops in Baghdad. I had no idea. I went into the mess area for my morning coffee/eggs and there was a guy who looked like Brian Billick. It was Brian Billick. Being the shy hermit I am, I gushed, "can I sit down with you guys?".
Unfortunately, the conversation was all about how they are investing their millions and how brave they are to invest in this or that stock. (Zzzzzzzzz.....). Cross is clearly not a morning person but he's a regular Joe. Billick spoke very highly of Herm and said we had a great future with him. Tillman was gracious and polite, and of all of them, seemed the most concerned about the troops. Then I had lunch with Barr ( a blowhard) of Byline Sports. He's pretty full of himself. He's supposed to be there for the troops and he turns to the nice Muslim lady at our table and points at me and says, "see what I put up with on my radio show?" (the subject was Chiefs QBs...you can imagine!). He blathered on about how hopeless the QB situation is in KC and totally dissed both Brodie and Huard. Then he crowed on about how he doesn't need listeners/fans because of his massive XM contracts, blah blah... So I got up and left. He did say Herm was a very good coach and that in 2-3 years the Chiefs would be in the hunt. He pissed on Gonzo, Brodie, Huard, etc... but admitted Bowe was a gamer. He said Chan will make no difference at all until we get better players. :banghead: All in all a wierd day in Baghdad that ended yesterday with rocket attacks on Camp Victory. Oh, and I walked into the lobby of the Base Camp lodging center and who's sitting there in his Air Force uniform? Colonel (Senator) Lindsay Graham, R-SC. I don't know who I am going to run into next - I'm fairly certain it won't be Saddam! KCJ Live from Baghdad |
Wow, well I don't share the enthusiasm that some may do, about our chances of contending this year or next. As for Barr, why on Earth was he there?

Apparently he's the announcer-guy voice on a lot of sports video games and his voice is instantly recognizable. I recognized it. But he really thinks he knows it all.

Barr has a late night radio show that isn't very good, IMO. Not sure why he would be there. Kind of a chump.

Wow, it sure doesnt seem like you were stateside for very long John...but it sounds like your in high spirits, stay safe over there :thumb:.

If you ever run into Pricsco, and you happen to be armed, please shoot him for me. :bang:

That would have been a great time to fart, and look at Randy Cross like he did it.

OK, I know this is an old thread, but I just got back from Iraq Sunday and this is the first chance I've had to reply on the topic.
Ron Barr's comments particularly intrigued me as he said there will be basically minimal improvement with Chan Gailey over Mike Solari based on the fact that (Barr says) KC is paper thin when it comes to offensive talent. Personally, I disagree, but I'd love for the Planet to register on this one. KCJ  |

There are obviously going to be holes this year & its gonna be Helter Skelter out there for awhile... but their IS a handful of TOP playmakers on O to build around. There are still several picks to be had & FA's to grab, i would expect nearly immediate improvement of some kind with Gailey instead of Solari. Welcome home John & thanks as always. |
