What should the Chiefs do about a kicker?

We signed Novak, and Cundiff, but in Herm's FG first offensive philosophy we seriously can't be going into the season with these 2 numb nuts battling it out for the spot.

Josh Brown might be available when the FA period begins, but I doubt SEA lets him go, well just because it would ****in stupid if they did. If they did, we better go get this guy.

Orlindo Mare just got released by the Saints. He's not great, he's got a leg, and is better than the 2 **** ups we have as of now.

Then we could draft a kicker. Didn't work out too well with Medlock because Carl has an undying loyalty to UCLA, lets not surgarcoat it, our specialteams coach (who may be a huge idiot) never even heard of Medlock going into the draft. Crosby had the most upside, most people knew this coming into the draft as he's been labeled as the most NFL-type kicker in college the last 2 if not 3 seasons. Oh yeah and we had Drummond returning kicks as opposed to the great idea of trading our best ST threat in the history of the franchise.

I really hope we don't waste a pick on a kicker this year unless the best kicker in the draft is still available in the 7th rd.

If he's healthy, Cundiff really isn't a bad option.

I'd bring in a guy like Josh Brown and let them fight it out.

The Bad Guy 02-27-2008 09:26 PM

Josh Brown at all costs.

The value of a guy who has kicked great in shitty conditions is invaluable.

ChiefsCountry 02-27-2008 09:27 PM

Like Parker said, if healthy Cundiff is a good kicker.

If Josh Brown is signed, there is no fight it out with Billy Cundiff.

Throw a 5th at Mehlhaff in the Draft.

RustShack 02-27-2008 09:35 PM

Hows the top kicker in this years draft looking? Josh Brown in my personal favorite, but I'm not opposed to drafting another one later too.

I used to hit 55 yarders about 65-70% in HS. :) Looooong time ago. I can still punt, but only 40 yarders now instead of the 50 in HS.

Maybe I should try out. At least I'm accurate. :)

Right.

So the Chiefs would potentially give a 2 plus million guaranteed to Josh Brown to have him fight it out with a guy who hasn't kicked full-time in this league in over 2 years?

Is that what Carl would do? No.

But it's what they SHOULD do. I don't care if they bring in Josh Brown, but nobody's job should be guaranteed.

This is intriguing. Can you also play left tackle? :hmmm:

Considering how bad our team is......I'd bring in a couple UDFA guys, go with the best one and see how he developed over the season.

ChiefFan31 02-27-2008 11:41 PM

Dude, we drafted a kicker in the 5th round. We are set.

It's not like we threw him under the bus after the first week of the regular season.

Other than that, I don't give a shit about a kicker right now. Unless he can kick a General Manager through the goalposts.

Yes, I am bitter much :D
