ATTN: Royals fans who don't live in KC

I live in Springfield, so we get FSN Midwest here, which shows Cardinals games all the time. I just found out that Dish Network has a sports package for only $5.99 a month. It has tons of FSN out of market networks, NBA TV, etc. I called them up today and they said the package does indeed include FSN Kansas City (which is a new network this year). That channel doesn't show up on the website but it is included in the package (at least here in Springfield).

Here is the link you can order it from if you have DISH Network:

I do not have Dish so I do not know the specifics, but you better check and see if you are going to get the Royal games or not. They may be blacked out.

i wouldn't think they would be blacked out...i live 170 miles from KC, which would be out of blackout range wouldn't it?

I am no expert on this, but I know I would ask the question. They have some crazy black out rules.

I wouldn't be surprised if it is.

DirecTV has these and if I recall they were blacked out recently. I think MLB extra innings bullshit....

alanm 03-25-2008 06:31 PM

I don't know how it works for you there. But I have the sports package on Direct TV and the Royals games are always blacked out here since I live in the Rockies area. And Denver is 212 miles away. :cuss::cuss:
And it doesn't matter if the Rockies have the night off and KC is playing. :cuss:

I think that has something to do with it.
I'd pass on the Dish sports package unless it has to do with college sports which they never black out anyway.

CrazyPhuD 03-25-2008 06:53 PM

Yea they didn't used to be blacked out. It's something they've done in the past couple years......really fricking annoying.

chief52 03-25-2008 07:10 PM

For those of you that will get FSN Kansas City it will be pretty great Royal coverage.

The Kansas City Royals and Fox Sports Net Kansas City today announced the 142-game television schedule for the 2008 season. Consisting of 140 regular season games and two exhibitions, the 2008 television slate is the largest in franchise history. The Royals and FSN Kansas City will announce at a future date a number of HD telecasts, which will be a first in Royals television history.

FSN Kansas City to carry 88 Royals games in HD

Although the Royals were already receiving the "world's largest" HD LED scoreboard in their home stadium, fans having to watch from the comfort of their own couches were yearning for more. Thankfully, FSN Kansas City -- the "new television home of the Royals" -- will be helping you folks out, as it's gearing up to broadcast 88 of the club's games this season in gorgeous high-definition. As you well know, 2008 marks the first year in which the Royals matchups will be aired in HD (regionally, at least), and FSN KC isn't wasting any time in delivering the goods. Starting on March 31st, Royals fans can catch the team's opener at Detroit in HD, and the home opener on April 8th (against the Yankees) will also be shown in high-def. Heck, even the pre- and post-game shows will be seen in HD on HD game nights. Check out the full HD schedule in the read link below.

BTW I have a feeling the Royals will have the largest HD scoreboard for just one season. The Yanks move into the new Yankee Stadium next year, I look for Stienbrenner to put in a bigger one.

well, Dish network doesnt carry MLB extra innings, so perhaps the games won't be blacked out?

we'll see. i'll be pissed if i can't get the games. otherwise they only televise like 3 games a month on FSN midwest.

cookster50 03-26-2008 07:02 AM

I'm upset because I have no options to watch any Royals game unless I want to get cable/sat. FSN is not a local channel, mlb.tv blacks the games out, I'm screwed. I should write a sternly worded letter!!!
