Interesting rumor out of STL....(Matt Ryan)

If the Falcons are able to land Glenn Dorsey with the 3rd overall pick, they would pick up the phone and call the Patriots if Matt Ryan was available at 7 and offer all three of their 2008 2nd round picks. (34/37/48)

The value chart shows the Falcons package to be worth 1510 on the chart, while the 7th overall pick is worth 1500.

Interesting, to say the least.

Not surprised, If that scenario breaks out and the Chiefs reached for an OT and passed on Ryan it will not be pretty.

Direckshun 04-22-2008 02:43 PM

Jesus, the Patriots would be all over that.

Only team in the way of that would be us. If it plays out as I think it will, we're going to choose between Ryan and Ellis.

What if the Falcons called us up and offered at least two of their second rounders and their 1st in 2009, assuming we already had the first from the Vikings?

We could do this all day...

The Franchise 04-22-2008 02:43 PM

Why the hell does everyone call the Patriots when they need something?

I need a good cameraman....I'm calling the Pats!

the Talking Can 04-22-2008 02:44 PM

we're going to have a huge bidding war if Ryan is there at #5...

You don't do that as the Chiefs, the Pats can consider it because with their already built core 3 good players can mean more to them than 1 great one..

The Chiefs still needing to build that core can not to a deal like that.

I'm gonna be in the minority here, and it's gonna come as a bit of a surprise considering I hate the idea of trading down, but depending on who we have to pick from...

If we had the 17th from Minnesota, I'd probably take the same offer, even though it's 190 points short on the value chart. Maybe ask for a 2009 2nd rounder or something, but if they balked, I'd take the 3 in the 2nd.

So we'd have picks at:

17
34
35
37
48
66
73
105
136
140
170
187
210
239

14 picks......if used correctly.....a damn great start to a rebuilt franchise.

You also just jacked all chance of getting a legit QB and next years QB class is awful...

What does "it will not be pretty" mean?. You've been arrogantly dismissing those who wanted OT over DL or Ryan for months - saying they don't understand the draft. Well, Bill Parcells knows a hell of a lot more about the draft than me or you and he just picked Long. I personally have become very high on Ryan and want to see him a Chief, but Branden Albert or Ryan Clady may be the next Willie Roaf - who knows?

I understand where you're coming from, but remember how San Diego built their core? 11 picks in 2004.

Five picks in the first two rounds could be huge. 7 picks in the first three rounds.

Want a quick bit of news?

Bill Parcells is not the end all be all of drafting this man used 1st round pick on Bobby Carpenter.

I know you have a raging hard-on for Ryan, but to say we couldn't get a QB with those extra picks is insane.

You're going against your own beliefs. Don't pick for need.

Yea we'll get Chad Henne just what I want...

Brock 04-22-2008 02:58 PM

I'd personally rather have Sedrick Ellis than to do this.

At some point you have to stop trading yourself out of a good spot.
