Wendy Nix: Edwards says no to Ryan

Herm told Nix something to the extent of "you can't expect a young QB to be successful without an OL, and the whole league knows we don't have the OL."

We're picking Ryan......

JBucc 04-25-2008 02:06 PM

That's what I thought too.

Hammock Parties 04-25-2008 02:08 PM

Wendy Nix is hot.

No other player was mentioned, but she did say that they have every intention of trading back and targeting a OLman.

Hope that's bullshit as well.

If the Chiefs were honest with her we should all get ready to be pissed because that means we'll end up with like Clady..

From what I understand the Pats are going to take Gholston if they can if they can't get him they'll try to trade back and if they get stuck they'll take Albert.

Not I...

Trade back a few spots, get Ellis.
Then get either best OT or DE
Same
then CB and WR and G but not in that order.

Team would have a lot of hope with a good Dline, Oline and improved WR and CB's.

Remember last year when Herm told anyone that would listen that our WR corps was good and we didn't need a WR in the 1st round?

If anything, making that comment at this point tells me that we are seriously considering Matt Ryan.

The only thing that keeps me from breaking things right now is the old saying:

Never believe anything you hear or read within 48 hours of the draft.

If they really trade back they're gonna **** themselves, the Saints and Bengals are going to covet Ellis enough to move with Dorsey off the board.

You really think they're gonna trade back to take ELLIS?

If tomorrow afternoon around 2:30-2:40 we hear "Kansas City has traded the 5th selection...."

It all but guarantees an offensive lineman is the pick, IMO.

Hopefully Herm is playing mind games with Baltimore. I'd love to see Ryan at #5.

Mecca 04-25-2008 02:19 PM

Baltimore has no ability to move, their 3rd round pick is a comp pick which can't be traded.

If the Chiefs trade down mark Ellis off Cincy or NO will move for him, if they stay ahead of the other one the best players become OT reaches or Keith Rivers.

ESPN's Wendy Nix reports the Chiefs are unlikely to draft Boston College QB Matt Ryan if he's available at the No. 5 overall pick.

Nix says Kansas City brass doesn't feel it has the right pieces in place to support, let alone protect, a rookie quarterback. Nix also indicates that the Chiefs could angle to move down from the fifth spot. Coach Herm Edwards said Thursday that he wants 15 draft picks. The team currently has 13.
