This was a tough poll to answer, considering that there were so many choices to choose from!
All of the Chiefs first six choices were bonafide steals. Dorsey should have gone #1 overall, at worst #2 and definitely no later than #3. KC catches this coup of a pick and he could easily be (injury-free and hold-out free) the most talented DT to put on Chiefs Red since Buck Buchanan.
Getting Glenn Dorsey made that 9 game losing streak worth it. That's why he got the vote. He is without question, a superbeast!
But to also get Albert (widely considered a Top 10 talent) @ #15, and Flowers @ #35 (widely considered to be a 1st round talent), gives the Chiefs in the big scheme of things 3 first round picks and two Top 10 picks amongst them (including the most talented player in the Draft).
Our 3 3rd round picks aren't starters on Week 1, but all of them will be eventual long-term starters for the Chiefs, as well as part of the nucleus of future Chiefs successes of a Chiefs team we can all be proud of.
Love the late selections too. They desperately needed an infusion of young talent and this Draft supplied them with a minimum of 9 players who will make the team. Heck, you can make an argument that every one of these picks is in a Chiefs jersey in Foxboro for Week 1 (Merritt would probably need to convert to FB to maximize his chances, but if he can block like Herm claims he can, shouldn't be that hard a transition).
Best Chiefs Draft weekend since trading up for Tony Gonzalez and this weekend was clearly better than that. Carl hasn't had many good drafts but this one will rank alongside 1989, 1996 & 1997 as being among the best in his regime. This Draft can be correctly named as "The Smorgasbrod of Steals"
They will likely have another 6-10 or worse season again this year but so long as they cash in on the Draft yet again, they'll be able to really have talent all over the place on both sides of the ball to start making some big-time strides in 2009.
