Morality survay.
Here is a list of things I'd like for people to rate on a "0-20" morality scale. Please think about your answers and take it at least a little seriously, I'm trying to get a wide sample and average the data for a independent study project.
0 - is completely corrupt and morally bankrupt. 10 - is neutral (no moral value). 20 - morals of the highest regard. In case it matters, I rated things as follows:
0 - morally bankrupt; people who commit these acts should be killed or in jail 1-4 I would not be friends with people who commit these acts 5 I can overlook a 5 once in a while but it's really questionable. Too many 5s and I wouldn't be friends with the person 6-9 slightly immoral; I may or may not be friends with these people 10 neutral 11-15 normal/ expected behavior 16-20 admirable behavior that may or may not reflect attainable goals for normal people |
Upon further reflection, I was at first a little too easy on the cheating sitatuations. I've changed them since.

This reminds me of a story my brother has. Once, he went into confession and told the priest one of his sins was that "He had been making fun of somebody" and the priest told him "Well, sometimes that is just a good sense of humor"

Give me a 0 overall. Morality is at best relative. It is a human construct.
edit: also, this does not mean I would do the terrible acts listed above, it just means there is no plausible way to 'grade' people on situations that differ from culture to culture, time period to time period. |
