Birthday gift from ebay

Got my son Rock Band off of ebay for his birthday.

DAMN DISC IS UNPLAYABLE.

What a load of CRAP!!!!!

I have purchased several games from Ebay and HALF.com and NEVER had an issue with one of them. Now, the one we buy for his birthday is the one that doesn't work.

NEVER AGAIN!!!

Were you getting a Disc Read Error? Or is the cd just in terrible condition?

Check your smokes

Disc read error. The disc itself looks perfectly fine. they had some stupid sticker on it that I removed and cleaned carefully but it made no difference. It went through all the normal startup routines, performed 2 updates and then the disc error occurred and occurs every single time on the MTV screen.

You know... my 360 was doing the same thing with DRE's - Only GTAIV wasn't working (clean disk and all my other games worked fine). I read a couple forums with people posting this was a sign of my GPU dying. Sure enough, it was.

Hopefully this isn't the case with you.

IS this same problem happening with any other game or just Rock Band?

Is this a 360 or PS3?

You could take the game itself to Walmart and exchange for another.
I did this with GTA and it worked for a few days but then went back to the DREs. You may be sending in your 360 for repair/replacement. New Jasper units coming out this summer (rumored to already be out).

Sucks.

It could be one of those pirated Chinese knock offs that you can buy over there for $1 each. Some a-hole might of gone over there and then came back with a bunch of them and then put them up on ebay. I bought about 10 of them a few years ago while on a trip to China and none of them worked.

I really don't believe that is the problem. If it is though, I will sell off every single game and never buy a Xbox again. this was from their last product revision last August with the HDMI port.

I just LOVE the idea of paying $100 for a $60 game. This guy is a power seller with great feedback too. How in the HELL can he not put the damn game into an xbox drive before selling it? POS!!!!!!

Whole day is ruined now. DAMNIT!!!!

You should take the game to a gamestop or something and have them test it - would be helpful in determining if it's the system or the game.

I love how the seller responded withing minutes to my initial email and asked if I had "removed the warranty sticker" The sticker is nothing more than a blank white price tag. I removed the sticker hoping that was what was causing the problem. I had nothing to tell me what that sticker was at all. Not even on the product page on ebay.

I emailed him back telling him that I cleaned the disk and removed the sticker. He has not responded since.

As far as the Walmart option... I don't think I can consider that since there is a minor scratch on the disc and any associate worth their grain of salt should be able to notice that.

POND_OF_RED 05-13-2008 05:02 PM

If there is a minor scratch you might want to think about taking it to a place that resurfaces game discs. I had the same problem with a game I bought on Ebay and took it to Game X-change here to have it resurfaced and haven't had a problem with it since. Here's a place in Topeka that will do it for $3 it says:

pr_capone 05-13-2008 05:19 PM

You bought it on ebay.... are you sure that it is a NTSC game and not PAL?

Just a thought.

As for the Wally World bit.... ITS WALMART! LMFAO

Do you realy think they give a flying fuck about what gets returned or not? All they will look at is the label fo the disk and call it good.
