A poll on names
What type of name would you most prefer, assuming that the poll choices were the only choices?
You may assume that all names are your preference of being either reflective of your own cultural heritage or generic "American" names that are racially and culturally neutral, to the extent that is possible. (I realize that my very assumption is somewhat racist since I defaulted to "white European" names. I'm not sure how to phrase it in a non-Eurocentrist way, though, so you'll just have to deal with it.) Wait for the poll. Wait for it. Waaaaaaait for it. Waaaaaaaait... |
Asdrubal would be a great first name if my last name was Cabrera

I get the feeling based on creation time, that this poll is well over 100 choices.
|
The new polling system won't let you go over 100 characters in a poll option, which caused some editing and delays. It's up and polling now.

Hmm... I like uncommon names but I do not like newly invented names.
|
I chose common 1st and last. If you have an odd 1st name, you'll get laughed at, and if you have an odd last name, nobody will spell it or pronounce it properly. Common names will help you to excel in life.

I have a common 1st name, my last name is hard for people to hear. It's spelled like times but the first letter is different. So when I tell someone my last name, I have to say "it's spelled like times, but starts with a _."
|
Slightly off topic, but I think it's hard sometimes when the last letter of the first name is the same as the first letter of the last name. It's hard for people to hear the break.
Michael Lane Pam Maroney Roger Rhino Jack Kemp In high school, there was a girl who I didn't know very well, and her name was Mary Sehall. For the first two years, I thought her name was Marissa Hall. (Name is slightly changed to protect the innocent.) |
