Death in the Office Place, How to cope?

After being at work for 5 minutes today, we all received the most horrible news. One of our co-workers died last night. She seemed to be in good health, and was in her 40's.

Now I cant do any work. I'm just sitting here and I dont know what to do. Has this ever happened to you before?

Mr. Flopnuts 09-26-2008 09:25 AM

That's terrible dude. I'm sorry to hear that. Nothing will make that any better other than some time I think. My condolences to all of you.

She didn't physically die in the office, right?

Saulbadguy 09-26-2008 09:31 AM

Steal things off her desk. She'd want you to have her stuff.

What was the cause of death?

She was on the phone with her Mom, who was in New York, and her Mom heard her say Oww, my neck, and then that was it, nothing else.

I'm assuming she had a heart attack. Very sad.

Everyone here at the workplace are friends with each other, which is one thing I like about my workplace. It just sucks.

Get use to it.

Once you're over 30 the random kicks in. Cancer, heart disease, brain tumor.

Tell your wife/gf/regular hooker that you love her and kiss the kids. Eat Arby's. Have a beer when you feel like it.

It's a part of geting older. All the new people coming in and the old leaving.

I don't want to talk about it.

Bummer. Had a mgr die (left on cart) from work, when I was in 20s. He was 50....

Having his wife come and get his stuff was tough.

Get use to it, it happens.

Imagine how bad her Mom feels....not only did she just outlive her daughter....but she got to hear her die on the phone.

Last year I actually saw someone die in the office. She fell out of her chair and rolled around on the floor. Went into cardiac arrest. I was about 30 feet away. Now THAT freaked me out.

Makes you feel your own mortality I bet. Time's ticking away.

More motivation to get that threesome going.

Seriously though, that has to be hard. Sorry dude. Not sure what you can do that you aren't already.

Shouldn't you be focusing on getting a million dollars first?
