This is nothing new. Megadeth and Metallica have a lot of riffs that sound similar.

Probably because Dave Mustaine wrote many of the riffs for Kill 'Em All and Ride the Lightening.

Definately on Kill Em All. They obviously started making music together and would sound alike as a result.
