Mock Me, Mock Me Hard!!!
2009 Mock NFL Draft: Updated 25 September 08
As we have seen in recent years, underclassmen will likely dominate the 2009 NFL Draft. If you see (JR) it means the prospects will be juniors for the 2009 NFL Draft. This draft will be very weak at quarterback and receiver, but should be incredibly strong at linebacker, tight end and offensive tackle. The order is based off our NFL Power rankings. http://www.nfldraftdog.com/Mock_Draf...mock_draft.htm <table border="1" cellspacing="1"><tbody><tr><td colspan="4" bgcolor="#0033cc">2009 NFL Mock Draft</td></tr><tr><td bgcolor="#c0c0c0">Team</td><td bgcolor="#c0c0c0">Pos </td><td bgcolor="#c0c0c0">Player</td><td style="width: 385px;" bgcolor="#c0c0c0">Comments:</td></tr><tr><td>http://www.nfldraftdog.com/images/475119.gif</td><td align="center">1</td><td>QB, Mathew Stafford, Georgia (JR)</td><td style="width: 385px;">If the strong armed Stafford comes out early he will likely be the first QB taken. Is Trent Green really starting for the Rams?</td></tr><tr><td>http://www.nfldraftdog.com/images/475114.gif</td><td align="center">2</td><td>LB, Rey Maualuga, USC </td><td style="width: 385px;">They won't draft another receiver, but instead will upgrade their defense. Big, fast linebackers are hard to find. Rey might have been a top ten pick if he would have entered the 2008 NFL Draft.</td></tr><tr><td>http://www.nfldraftdog.com/images/474907.jpg</td><td align="center">3</td><td>OT, Andre Smith, Alabama (JR)</td><td style="width: 385px;">Smith is huge at 6' 4" 330 pounds, slides his thick legs very well and plays with great balance and power. Might end up at guard.</td></tr><tr><td>http://www.nfldraftdog.com/images/474916.jpg</td><td align="center">4</td><td>WR, Michael Crabtree, Texas Tech (Soph) </td><td style="width: 385px;">The top receiver in the nation is a draft eligible sophomore. He is even good enough to be the first over all pick. A nice target for QB JaMarcus Russell.</td></tr><tr><td>http://www.nfldraftdog.com/images/browns.gif</td><td align="center">5</td><td>RB, Knowshon Moreno, Georgia (Soph)</td><td style="width: 385px;">Moreno is a draft eligible sophomore and the best running back in the nation, hands down.</td></tr><tr><td>http://www.nfldraftdog.com/images/474901.jpg</td><td align="center">6</td><td>OT, Eugene Monroe, Virginia</td><td style="width: 385px;">Wow three OTs taken in the top ten. Monroe (6' 5" 315 lbs) is just as talented as teammate Brandon Albert who was drafted 15th over all by the KC Chiefs. </td></tr><tr><td>http://www.nfldraftdog.com/images/474909.jpg</td><td align="center">7</td><td>LB, James Laurinaitis,Ohio State </td><td style="width: 385px;">Parcells loves to draft linebackers. Laurinaitis won the Butkis Award in 2007 and could have been a top ten pick if he would have entered the 2008 NFL Draft.</td></tr><tr><td>http://www.nfldraftdog.com/images/475108.jpg</td><td align="center">8</td><td>OT, Michael Oher, Ole Miss</td><td style="width: 385px;">Oher is very athletic, has nice size (6' 6" 320 lbs) and plays with a chip on his shoulder. Young, talented QB Matt Ryan needs protection.</td></tr><tr><td>http://www.nfldraftdog.com/images/474922.jpg</td><td align="center">9</td><td>CB, Vontae Davis, Illinois (JR)</td><td style="width: 385px;">The younger brother of 49er TE Vernon Davis. He (Davis) has as much talent as any DB in the nation, has decent size (5' 11" 188 lbs) and runs a 4.35 forty. </td></tr><tr><td>http://www.nfldraftdog.com/images/vikings.gif</td><td align="center">10</td><td> CB, Malcolm Jenkins, Ohio State </td><td style="width: 385px;">I was surprised Jenkins didn't enter the 2008 NFL Draft, where he would have been a top 20 selection. Jenkins is the top rated cornerback entering the 2008 season. </td></tr><tr><td>http://www.nfldraftdog.com/images/474910.jpg</td><td align="center">11</td><td>LB, Brian Cushing, USC</td><td style="width: 385px;">He fought injuries last year, but as a soph recorded 57 tackles and 13.5 tackles for loss. The Jags get a potential pro bowl linebacker with nice size (6' 3" 245 lbs). Also very good in pass coverage. </td></tr><tr><td>http://www.nfldraftdog.com/images/475100.jpg</td><td align="center">12</td><td>QB, Curtis Painter, Purdue </td><td style="width: 385px;">The 6' 3" 224 pound quarterback has legitimate NFL potential. The Bears haven't drafted a quarterback since 2005, when they drafted Kyle Orton in the 4th round. </td></tr><tr><td>http://www.nfldraftdog.com/images/474911.jpg</td><td align="center">13</td><td>DE, Michael Johnson, Georgia Tech </td><td style="width: 385px;">Not huge at 6' 6" 255 pounds, but he is very explosive coming off the edge. Almost entered the 2008 NFL Draft where he was graded as a 3rd rounder despite missing most of the season with injuries.</td></tr><tr><td>http://www.nfldraftdog.com/images/474917.jpg</td><td align="center">14</td><td>LB, Brandon Spikes, Florida (JR)</td><td style="width: 385px;">Spikes hits like a ton of bricks and has nice size at 6' 3" 240 lbs. He recorded 16 tackles for loss and 7 pass break-ups in 2007. </td></tr><tr><td>http://www.nfldraftdog.com/images/475122.gif</td><td align="center">15</td><td>WR, Darrius Heyward-Bey, Maryland (JR) </td><td style="width: 385px;">Seattle doesn't have a receiver that can draw a double team, enter Heyward-Bey. Big (6' 3" 206), fast (4.34)and great hands.</td></tr><tr><td class="style36" colspan="4"><script type="text/javascript"> sr_adspace_id = 2475507; sr_adspace_width = 728; sr_adspace_height = 90; sr_adspace_type = "graphic"; sr_color_back = "#FFFFFF"; sr_color_text = "#000000"; sr_color_url = "#E15F00"; sr_color_title = "#3F66B3"; sr_color_border = "#3366CC"; sr_color_your_ad = "#2852A3"; sr_color_your_adbk = "#FFDD81"; sr_ad_new_window = true; </script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ad.afy11.net/srad.js?azId=2475507"> </script> </td></tr><tr><td>http://www.nfldraftdog.com/images/475099.jpg</td><td align="center">16</td><td>RB, Chris (Beenie) Wells, Ohio State (JR)</td><td style="width: 385px;">Wells (6' 1" 225 lbs/ 4.46 speed) has all the talent in the world and will rise up the boards again once he gets healthy. A needed relief for Frank Gore.</td></tr><tr><td class="style36">http://www.nfldraftdog.com/images/Colts65by65.jpg</td><td class="style36" align="center">17</td><td class="style36">WR, Jeremy Maclin, Missouri (soph)</td><td class="style36" style="width: 385px;">An eligible soph, if he comes out early he will be a hot commodity. Maclin (6' 1" 200), exploded for a team high 1,055 receiving yards last season. Blazing fast, Maclin ran a 4.32 this spring.</td></tr><tr><td class="style36">http://www.nfldraftdog.com/images/475121.gif</td><td class="style36" align="center">18</td><td class="style36">DE/OLB Antonio Coleman, Auburn (JR)</td><td class="style36" style="width: 385px;">Coleman is a pass rushing terror, after only three games into the 2008 season he already has 4 sacks and 5 tackles for a loss.</td></tr><tr><td>http://www.nfldraftdog.com/images/475104.jpg</td><td align="center">19</td><td> LB, Aaron Curry, Wake Forest </td><td style="width: 385px;">A very talented, relatively unknown linebacker with nice size (6' 3" 247 lbs). Curry recorded 13.5 tackles for loss in 2007.</td></tr><tr><td>Washington </td><td align="center">20</td><td>DE, George Selvie, South Florida (JR)</td><td style="width: 385px;">Selvie is a pass rushing terror, constant double teams this year, but in 2007 Selvie led the nation in tackles for loss with an amazing 31.5 and an additional 14.5 sacks. </td></tr><tr><td>Philly </td><td align="center">21</td><td>FS, William Moore, Missouri </td><td style="width: 385px;">From Panthers: Moore is the epitome of a ball hawk, recording 8 interceptions in 2007 which was tops in the country. He is also a big time hitter with nice size at 6' 1" 215 lbs.</td></tr><tr><td>Chargers </td><td align="center">22</td><td>CB, Darius Butler, Connecticut</td><td style="width: 385px;">Butler is a supreme talent and will give the Chargers some depth at the corner position.</td></tr><tr><td>Green Bay </td><td align="center">23</td><td>CB, Alphonso Smith, Wake Forest</td><td style="width: 385px;">This little ball hawk is an excellent cover corner. Al Harris suffered a serious injury and might not make it back 100%.</td></tr><tr><td>Bucs </td><td align="center">24</td><td>WR, Percy Harvin, Florida (JR) </td><td style="width: 385px;">Not huge at 5' 11" 184 pounds, but Harvin is a super talent and put up huge numbers in 2007 where he ran for 764 yards and 6 TDs and also caught 59 passes for 858 yards and 4 TDs. </td></tr><tr><td>Patriots </td><td align="center">25</td><td>WR, Brian Robiskie, Ohio State</td><td style="width: 385px;">Robiskie should be one of the top senior receivers available for the 2009 NFL Draft. He is the son of former NFL player and current coach Terry Robiskie and had 55 receptions for 935 yards and 11 TDs in 2007.</td></tr><tr><td>Steelers </td><td align="center">26</td><td class="style36">OT, Fenuki Tupou, Oregon</td><td style="width: 385px;">Tupou is an under rated tackle with nice size (6' 5" 328 lbs). He held his own against South Florida's George Selvie in the Sun Bowl.</td></tr><tr><td colspan="4"><script type="text/javascript"><!-- google_ad_client = "pub-7670561362994454"; google_ad_slot = "7942487620"; google_ad_width = 300; google_ad_height = 250; //--> </script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js"> </script> </td></tr><tr><td>Titans </td><td align="center">27</td><td>DE/OLB Everette Brown, Florida State (JR)</td><td style="width: 385px;">Brown is in the mold of the Cowboys DeMarcus Ware. He is off to a good start in 2008 with 2 sacks and 4 tackle for losses (TFL) after only three games.</td></tr><tr><td>Philly </td><td align="center">28</td><td>TE, Brandon Pettigrew, OK State (JR)</td><td style="width: 385px;">2009 might be considered the year of the tight if a couple talented juniors declare. At 6' 5" 260 pounds Pettigrew is a complete tight end.</td></tr><tr><td align="center">Buffalo </td><td align="center">29 </td><td>TE Travis Beckum, Wisconsin</td><td style="width: 385px;">Beckum reminds me of the 49ers Vernon Davis. He (Beckum) is more of a speedy H-back at 6' 4" 235 lbs, but his speed will really stretch the field.</td></tr><tr><td align="center">Giants </td><td align="center">30 </td><td>OT Jamon Meridith, South Carolina</td><td style="width: 385px;">Meridith (6' 5" 305 lbs) came out of no where to be one of the top offensive lineman entering the 2009 season. He seems to get better each game under Steve Spurriers tutelage.</td></tr><tr><td>Broncos </td><td align="center">31</td><td>DT, Peria Jerry, Ole Miss</td><td style="width: 385px;">The Broncos still need help on defense and Jerry (6' 2" 292 lbs) is a stud. After getting surgery in week one, he only missed one full game and has already recorded 4.5 tackles for loss.</td></tr><tr><td>Dallas </td><td align="center">32</td><td>OG, George (Duke) Robinson, Oklahoma (JR)</td><td style="width: 385px;">A massive (6' 4" 330 lbs), athletic offensive lineman that can easily start at left guard for Dallas. The question is, will Robinson fall this far or will Dallas have to trade up to get him?</td></tr><tr><td colspan="4"><script type="text/javascript"> sr_adspace_id = 2475507; sr_adspace_width = 728; sr_adspace_height = 90; sr_adspace_type = "graphic"; sr_color_back = "#FFFFFF"; sr_color_text = "#000000"; sr_color_url = "#E15F00"; sr_color_title = "#3F66B3"; sr_color_border = "#3366CC"; sr_color_your_ad = "#2852A3"; sr_color_your_adbk = "#FFDD81"; sr_ad_new_window = true; </script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ad.afy11.net/srad.js?azId=2475507"> </script> </td></tr></tbody></table> |
That would blow if the draft fell like that.
|
really.
|
that's how it goes down?
we're fucked. TWO tackles in consecutive years who may turn into guards. lord help us. |
I don't particularly want to draft any "might end up a guard" in the top 5.
|
I'd love to see the reaction if we end up with a tackle-to-guard conversion at #3.
|
No thanks. Oher or Crabtree would be fine. Even Johnson.
Of course, we should think about trading up to get Daniel b/c he'll likely be first off the board. Then, trade back into the first to snag Maclin. Coffman in the second. Dynasty...(without the tradition of Nebraska, of course) |

As much as I prefer to draft the best player available I don't think we'll draft OT with a top pick two years in a row. We've got our LT in Alberts unless he continues to be injured. Michael Johnson sure dropped in this mock.

you do NOT draft a guard in the first round. period. end of sentence, end of story. let's face it though. guard to tackle is the new safety to cornerback. |

wouldn't we grab Crabtree if it fell like this?
2 years we grab arguably the best player in the draft...... |
this Mock is a joke
