Position Coaches - luck, chemistry, or what?

In Kansas City people couldn't wait to get rid of Peter Giunta as secondary coach. He ends up on the Giants and coaches up 3rd and 4th stringers and gets a Super Bowl ring.

Gunther did great with the linebackers in Tennessee but seems to have lost it with the LB's in Kansas City.

The Chiefs have two firsts, a second and third round pick invested on the DL but fan favorite Krumrie doesn't really have them clicking. They can't generate any pass rush whatsoever.

Do fans focus too much on positional coaches? Is it really just a matter of talent?

Krumrie is a ****ing dumbass who hasn't developed anyone.

Giunta was probably given a bad rap. He had a lot of success in St.L. and he had success in New York.

Who did Gunther do a good job with? Keith Brooking? He was going to be good whether or not that dipshit worked with him.

The linebackers with TALENT on this team are playing better than they ever have before (DJ, Demorrio).

Donnie Edwards is washed up, and everybody else sucks. That's why the LBs suck. I'm sure we can do better than Gunther at LB coach, but I'd much rather get a replacement for QB, Oline, and Dline before I worry about Gunther coaching the LBs.

On a side note, Eric Price looks to be a good hire for the receivers.

It was a little bit.

Really, I don't think we can judge this hire until we get him a #2 receiver better than Devard ****ing Darling

MOhillbilly 10-07-2008 10:09 AM

Look at the talent Giunta had to work with here. McCleon, Bartee, Warfield, Harts, and an old Jerome Woods, non of which are on an NFL roster now. They were all pathetic.

Gunther's running a defense that he's not accustomed to. Personally i ****ing hate the cover 2. Its designed to prevent the big play, but people can pass and pass and pass on you all day if they can find the holes in the zone.

You can also gash the piss out of the C2 in the running game. It takes too much d-line talent to run it well.

I was actually going to do a separate thread on Krumrie wondering if he was overrated. But this will do. I have liked him before, but I'm beginning to have doubts about him as a DL coach.

CoMoChief 10-07-2008 11:07 AM

I will say that Krumrie is better than our old DLine coach under DV

Red Dawg 10-07-2008 11:14 AM

Some coaches are not as good as others ijn motivation but what winning and losing comes down to is players. By the time a head coach gets a job in the NFL they pretty much know the same stuff.

That's why Belicheat has won in NE and was a POS with the Browns. He has better players. Herm is struggling here less than in NY, he had better players there.
