Croyle healthy but ‘rusty’

Chiefs coach Herm Edwards said quarterback Brodie Croyle has healed from his separated right shoulder, but he still has timing issues the team hopes to correct before Croyle resumes his place as starter next week against Tennessee.

“He’s just rusty,” Edwards said. “That’s what’s good about the bye week. (The Chiefs) have three more practices.”

Croyle returned to practice last week and has taken first-team snaps this week. Edwards said Croyle’s arm has looked strong but his timing is off.

Croyle missed the last four games after injuring his shoulder in the season opener against New England.

Mistaken identity

Chiefs rookie cornerback Brandon Flowers said that for months he’s been mistaken for a man linked with last year’s shooting of former Denver Broncos wide receiver Darrent Williams.

A different Brandon Flowers was in the limousine with Williams last year when Williams was fatally shot after a New Year’s Eve party in January 2007.

Investigators on Wednesday indicted 25-year-old Willie D. Clark in connection with Williams’ shooting.

The Chiefs’ Flowers, the team’s second-round pick in this year’s draft, said he’s used to being mistakenly linked, but that doesn’t make it any easier.

“I just got a lot of phone calls,” Flowers said. “That kind of incident, you know, having it end the way it did and having my name pop up in it like that, it just makes you think.”

Injuries

Punter Dustin Colquitt was sore Thursday and did not practice, Edwards said.

Linebacker Donnie Edwards (ankle) also didn’t practice.

It's worse for us to lose Colquitt than it is for Indy to lose Manning.

POND_OF_RED 10-10-2008 12:39 AM

We won't need him. Brodie is back against Tennessee. We'll surely turn the ball over before any 4th downs.

JuicesFlowing 10-10-2008 12:43 AM

I was going to suggest to Chan that we need to start punting on 2nd down. It would minimize our sacks. sure, the defense would play 58 minutes of football, but it would keep our offense healthy until Colquitt's leg fell off. But nevermind ...

This is a great time to let Thiggy show how versatile he really is.

How many turnovers has Brodie had this year?

I was cleaning out a flower bed yesterday afternoon and found a little, tiny turtle about the size of my thumbnail in the day lilies, Mr. the_spatula. His shell had a descernable ridge down the middle and faint, light colored spots on a dark grey background. Do you happen to know what kind it was? Snapper, maybe? That's the only turtle I know with a ridge on the shell.

EDIT: STOP THE PRESSES!!! I think I found it in Turtle Steve's Turtle Field Guide!! I think it might have been a Yellow-Blotched Sawback Turtle!!!

3 more practices before the Titan's game? Are you kidding me?
These guys should be getting their AZZ worked off. 9 days until next game and only 3 practices....wow.
No freaking wonder Brokie's timing is off. or the whole dang tem for that matter.

Well, they can't go into the Tacks game all fatigued and stuff, Mr. King_Chief_Fan. Besides, practice is overrated. We need to start playing serious ChaosBall if we're going to pull this season out of the crapper.

The little amount of time they practice is BS. I heard an interview by one of the MU coaches and he was talking about their two a days during their bye week.

errr Huard.... ROFL

Dude that was some weak very weak smack talk, considering the "true fan" savior turned the ball over 2 possessions, 2 plays, 2 typical Huard turnovers last week...
