New Team Interested In Gonzalez

http://kan.scout.com/2/800915.html

The Chiefs are stepping up their efforts to accommodate tight end Tony Gonzalez’s trade demand. Warpaint Illustrated.com has confirmed more details about trade partners.

At noon today, according to an NFL source, the Arizona Cardinals have inquired about trading for Gonzalez. According to that source, the Cardinals are unhappy with the play of both Leonard Pope and Ben Patrick. It’s not known how serious the interest might be, but the Cardinals need another receiving threat and Gonzalez would provide that.

Warpaint Illustrated.com has also confirmed that an unidentified fifth team is in the mix. Currently the New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles and Buffalo Bills are also competing for Gonzalez.

Of those teams, reportedly the Giants have approached the Chiefs with the most serious offer. However per our source, “no team is willing to give the Chiefs multiple picks for Gonzalez.”

That does not bode well for Kansas City’s hopes of acquiring the multiple-pick package they’ve been seeking per earlier reports. However, our source did expect a deal would be struck today, and the fact that the Chiefs moved back their 2:00 PM press conference to 3:00 PM today to coincide with the trade deadline favors that.

In other news, a league source tells Warpaint Illustrated.com that the New York Jets have shown some “lukewarm interest” in Larry Johnson, but his recent incident that was reported in the Kansas City Star this morning, where Johnson allegedly pushed a young woman in a bar incident, could impede any trade. However, the Chiefs are aggressively shopping Johnson.

The Chiefs are also shopping middle linebacker Napoleon Harris and possibly cornerback Patrick Surtain. Quarterback Damon Huard still is garnering interest from the New England Patriots.

Stay tuned to Warpaint Illustrated.com for the latest on the Chiefs trade maneuvers.

All these teams in the mix? We ought to get SOMETHING good.

BWillie 10-14-2008 11:35 AM

There is not going to be a trade with Tony Gonzalez, Damon Huard, or Patrick Surtain.

This all sounds pretty made up to me.

When does a NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE ever put up half their team for sale during the trade deadline?

90% of the time none of us ever hear jack shit when the deadlines comes and goes.

I bet no one is traded...especially not Huard, Surtain, Harris, Ghandi or Johnson.

I opened this with the hope that maybe it was the Chiefs.

How sad is it, that the Cardinals are in the running and the Chiefs still suck ass? Carl can't leave soon enough.

Trade Gonzo to the Cardinals for Bolden. That would be a fair deal

ChiefsFan4Life 10-14-2008 11:40 AM

Cliff's Notes for anyone interested:

A bunch of teams are showing interest in Tony G. A deal may or may not happen.

None of these players will be traded.

WPI will waste more subscriber money.

WHY?? the hell did we pay Johnson? Why the hell didn't we trade him when his value was enormous. Does this team EVER do anything right? Do we ever do anything proactive? I don't guess we're going to extend DJ until he becomes once Dorsey, and Tank develop, and he'll cost us double what we could sign him for right now. Who am I kidding. Why the hell would he want to extend with this team?

ROFLROFLROFLROFL

Gonzalez + 2nd + 5th might be fair.

the latest incident has nothing to do with it, nobody wanted larry johnson before that either

CupidStunt 10-14-2008 11:45 AM

All of this fluff, all of these turd players (save Gonzo), and at best we're looking at losing Gonzalez for a third-round pick.

Whippy-f'ing-doo.

Well whatever...

The fan base would have went ape shit if Gonzalez or LJ went anywhere the past few years...

Which is WHY Carl should be fired...New England and Indy don't hang on to stars unnecessarily, and the fan base TRUSTS their management so you never hear a peep about it...

We need new management for this reason alone. They are in too deep with the fans, everything they do is going to be a lose/lose.

We could have gotten a sweet deal for LJ before we re-signed him.
